I too am hoping for the dwarf spider droid, but if they do follow their established release schedule, I think we will likely get the LR1K Sonic Cannon next, followed by Geonosian Picadors. After that we will have to wait and see, but I think we will definitely get the dwarf spider droid and STAPs at some point.

I figure that Dwarf Spider Droids, Crab Droids, or STAPs are the most likely next Support for CIS. I figure that Dwarf Spider Droids could basically be a slow moving platform with a range 1-4 main gun and has Fire Support as an ability while Crab droids have Scale and more want to get up close, and well STAPs would likely be slower Speeder Bikes.

While I do agree we will be getting those I am super bias and would rather them go more core CIS droids first. More like this:

They said they would do partisans units, but I think that is less by design choice and more by necessity. CIS and GAR both need a third core unit and I can't really think of anything they could use? Gungans and Geonosians fit the bill and it lets FFG bring in more diverse models.

I definitely want spider droids, crab droids, and STAPs before anything else, but the pessimist in me thinks FFG will give us an emplacement trooper second and a creature trooper third like they did with Rebels and Imperials.

Oh crap forgot about the droidakars........................ so ummmm ya. I still think the dwarf spider droid should be the emplacement trooper we get in Q2 (closer to the E-web), but I feel like you are right about them going super safe with the bug one.

Same goes for the creature trooper, we may get lucky and FFG goes with something a bit different since it seems like CIS will always be the odd man out when it comes to their copy and paste units.

What I am really scared for is the commander/operative in Q2. CIS really need a cheap option and i feel in me bones that FFG will show us Ventress, Fett, or Cad Bane. We really need a cheap option like Kalani or Nute Gunray. A cheap commander could make the B2s really shine since we would have the extra points to just upgrade a few B2s.

Man, people are weirdly set on symmetry even though FFG said they might be stepping away from that, and CIS are already odd man out, having two melee monster high cost commanders back to back (where as GAR did the typical thing of expensive obi-core and cheap rex later, next we'll get either a medium, or an imperial style extra-expensive Anakin commander).

If the next one for CIS is a commander, I'd think it would have to be cheap-er, if only because they've already explored a lot of space with expensive commanders and at some point if you want to use all these toys like operatives and tanks there has to be a budget somewhere, a man cannot live on B-1s alone. We'll see a cheap CIS commander and an expensive GAR commander next wave (revealed in Dec, I bet). It'll be Gunray and Anakin!

I bet Gunray will have Coordinate B1 and a few other support abilities. Cost will be around 80. I doubt we see a named character below that number?

Well, I should say offensive surge, he can surge to defense he's pretty slippery.

Though if we're dreaming, make that Entourage: B-1s for the same effect, so you can cram one more activation in your list.

I admit I am one of those who are fixated on FFG symmetry. I also do not really care for it and hope they switch up the system to whatever is the coolest or what a faction needs most................. but I like knowing stuff far ahead and this helps me guess what is coming out next. Q1 next years is a repeat of Empire Rebel wave, so we have to wait for them to reveal what is coming out Q2 to see if they really do change up their releases.

Funny enough when the did not follow the patter it hurt GAR/CIS since I think the weapon expansion and terrain should have have been released right after Clone Wars. And when they did follow the pattern it also hurt GAR/CIS since we got P2s and B2s when both factions are begging for a cheap special forces or support.

I have been pushing for Kalani>Gunray>Tambor for my cheap CIS commander (my gut says Tambo which makes me sad). Kalani only gets one arc for Clone Wars, but he was smart enough to survive the Clone Wars, shows up in Rebels, and go work for gangstas lol. Gunray next only because his command cards would be at least funny compared to the other CIS council members.

So far in one year each faction has gotten 4 named commanders with one of them being on the cheap side. My guess is Ventress would be the last CIS commander and they would use bounty hunters for their operatives. Regular tactical droid for the generic commander as well.

They also said 5 new announcements by mid December and two are already filled (if the leaks are true). So in a week or two we will know...................................... Why do I feel like they will screw up again and give CIS an expensive operative or commander lol?!!?!?!

I feel like the special choices for CIS is going to be crowded; dwarf spider droids, crab droids were considered ‘heavy infantry’, according to the old essential guide to droids.

Add a true emplacement trooper choice, and you’d have 4 including Droideka, more if you include STAPs.

I’m more interested in getting a cheap commander, and BX commandos and IG-100 Magnaguard.

Most likely the Emplacement would be geonosian descent, looking the sonic cannon in particular. I would be interested in geonosian bugs with jump 1, but that might be OP

OP or not, that would make for an interesting unit.

Movement 3, Jump 1, Weapons range 1-2, Attack Die 1 or 2 white?, Surge to hit?.

It also fills in the 3 corp + emplacement option.

Entourage is very powerful. Especially if you can Entourage a B1 and then chain all of your B1s.

It all comes down to the developers vision of the separtists. Strong command cards or interesting and unique abilities can drive the price up.

For instance,

Nute Gunray: 80 points.

- 4 wounds. White Defense Courage 2. Attack: 1 white.

- Inconspicuous

- Entourage: B-1

- Pull the Strings like action (works only on Droid Trooper units).

- Action: Target Droid Trooper gains an "action token" The action token gives that droid trooper an additional action when that trooper activates this turn (essentially giving a squad 3 activation that turn).

As for command cards?

A card that heals a single wound (or brings back a dead model with 1 remaining wound left on their profile) to each friendly droid trooper unit range 1-3.

A card that gives all Droid Trooper units "Fire Support" until the end of the turn.

Rough late night brainstorming, but this could be the route they go. Or they could have him be cheap with minimal abilities.

Really not looking forward to a bunch of Courage 1 leaders for the faction (thematically, there's no way they have as much courage in battle as someone like Leia, Rex, or Veers), nor seeing a bunch of pompous businessmen "leading" droid armies into battle.

You're right that the Separatists don't have many recognizeable named commanders, but they only need to get up to 4 leaders to get them even with the Rebel and Imperial leader count for now. Ventress is most likely going to be an operative, but she could be released as a commander if necessary.
Lesser known leaders that showed up in the Clone Wars cartoon could also make reasonable, cheap commanders for the faction. The best examples I can think of are Kalani from the CW Onderon arc, and General Loathsome from the Clone Wars movie. They're both minor leaders but they are named, they're visually distinct, and have more screentime than someone like General Veers. So if he can make it into the game, at least one of these secondary CIS leaders can to fill the role of a cheap commander over a businessman.

Kalani also makes an appearance in Rebels

I haven't watched rebels so I was completely unaware or Kalani.

Kalani makes much better sense for this game, and he is the perfect complement to Rex (because of the Rebel TV show). Anakin (mid costed?) complements Dooku, Kalani (cheap) complements Rex.

Back to our topic, I'm kinda in the camp with op. My main gripe though is no coordinate with an ai hamstring for a trooper unit... once we have special forces and heavy options I can't see them being any better than fluff armies (with the possible exception of the 500pnt format) until they at least get their own version of a oom.
