Raddus Starhawk

By antisocialmunky, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I've been mostly theorycrafting Onager lists because RITR and the new Wave seems to have given the empire all the cool toys. However, I think I've exhausted my creativity for those so I've moved onto trying to abuse Magnite Beam:

Quote

Name: The Bluest Fish
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Admiral Raddus

Assault: Surprise Attack
Defense: Contested Outpost
Navigation: Doomed Outpost

MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100)
• Admiral Raddus (26)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• External Racks (3)
• Expanded Launchers (13)
= 157 Points

Starhawk Battleship Mark I (140)
• Hondo Ohnaka (2)
• Kyrsta Agate (5)
• Cham Syndulla (5)
• Leading Shots (4)
• Magnite Crystal Tractor Beam Array (10)
• Concord (12)
= 178 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Quantum Storm (1)
= 19 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Comms Net (2)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 22 Points

Squadrons:
= 0 Points

Total Points: 376

The Raddus drop shell is nothing really innovative. The list is designed to drop Concord which will Hondo for a nav (to deny the opponent) and squad token for Cham. The Concord when it gets to go will drop to speed zero and use Cham to hopefully prevent the target from ever moving again unless they get a nav token (not sure if there's a good way around it).

I'm not too concerned about the target ship getting a chance to speed back up as the full black die Ordinance Cruiser and a double Arcing Starhawk can pretty much delete even an SSD pretty quickly.

For matchups I'm thinking:

- MSU doesn't seem to be a big issue

- Big ship lists is what this list hard counters

- SSD will have a really bad time

- Big squadron list matchups obviously will be difficult without squadrons but lifeboats are much weaker due to the magnite tractor and carriers can be dropped on with clever transport maneuvering.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can improve this or if I'm missing anything?

I'll pick Doomed Outpost.

Try Ion Cannon batteries to zap away tokens. Still useful even if there are no tokens

Raid tokens/ Captain Rex to stop the ship from naving? Not sure how you'd fit that in, but in theory that's as close to a hard lock as I could imagine.

The Star Cruiser has the most blue dice in a single arc so running a barebones MC80 might be the best way to do this. You can then slap QBTs on the Starhawk so its much stronger at long range. I'm still not sold on Gunnery Teams on the Starhawk but its the only weapons team that makes sense.

I just realized I can take BT instead. There not really a point in doing speed 0 raid token shenanigans with mag beam since dropping at speed 1 with BT + double arc and unloading a combined 16 dice is pretty strong.

Nice fleet, but you can't give both Hondo tokens to the Concord. If you want to pull this trick off, you need something else too.

Only the squad token goes onto Concord/Unity.

What about this?

Suddenly....STARHAWK!

Raddus charges whatever the big bad is turn 1. Turn 2, drop the CR90 then the hawk off of it. Start of ship phase, hondo for a nav on the hawk and a sqaudron token on tantive. Once it goes to tantive, it can shove it back to the hawk. If first, block the lane with raddus, then follow up with tantive for some shield peeling, then last/first them with the hawk. Rex and cham semi guarantee that they never move again while you shoot them in the butt. between APTs and XX-9s, you should have a pile of crits on them in no time

Also, if you know youre facing a SSD, this may work a little faster

Your problem is, you only have on ship for deployment. If you want the range for the Starhawk drop, simply take a CR90 with Engine Techs and in round 2 you can deploy the Starhawk in Speedrange 5 and gives you more advantages all in all.

Its Raddus so deployment isn't as big as it normally would be with someone else. A speed 3 MC75 that sets up on the line gets about halfway across the map. Turn 2, pop out the mini at the edge of distance 1, then the hawk off of him gets just inside the enemy deployment zone. Ive been doing it for the better part of a year with a cr90b with OP and another 75 to pretty good, consistent effect, 1 rounding ISDs and mopping up whats left. Worse comes to worse, SA so they have to move something closer and go from there. Setting up the CR90 at deployment shows which side youre planning on dropping on and they can counter. Holding him in profundity lets you choose which side of the target ship you want to drop on, effectively cutting their fleet in half. Against 2 big ship list or even msu list, you can drop in, take out the big guy or 2 smaller boats and start bullying whats left. Thats been my experience at least. What im concerned with regarding the hawk is msu that scatter away after the target ship is sacked. Not saying its foolproof, but I'd rather my opponent react AFTER my surpise ship is on the board versus before hand

But you have 2 big problems: Deployment and your bid, if you are 2nd player, your Hammerhead and MC75 will do absolutly nothing if your opponment is smart. That is my version, bid for 1st, a nice mc80 with engine techs for range fights and a Speed 4 deployment and 2 GR75 for an alternate Raddus Drop. And you can put Hondo on a GR75 to have one more officer ...
