Worlds Question for Adepticon 2020

By klyver, in Star Wars: Armada

I just viewed the Adepticon event preview list, and I noticed that Armada has a "last chance qualifier on Thursday the 26th. Does this mean that you have to win a prime event to attend Armada worlds now? I'm going to only be able to make one event this year due to the small number of events. Has anyone heard that Armada worlds is also invite only now? I don't remember seeing anything about that. We had a really good turn out last year of over 100 players.....it would kind of be a bummer if Worlds for Armada is going to be a lot smaller like Legion's first event......

Armada worlds is invite only.

There will be 20+ seats available from the last chance qualifier I am betting.

Invites are being given to winners of Primes/Regioanls, Top 4 at Nationals/Grands, Top 8 at Continentals.

Most if not all of the Continentals and Grands have already happened, so if you want an invite you need to win a Prime (unless invites don't get duplicated, so if the winner of a Prime already has one the runner-up gets it).

Poland is this weekend.
There is one more US one (Las Vegas Open).
And i thought the French one is still open, but it was already in October ( Grand Championship list ).
Here is a list of the Prime Championships .

If we take last worlds as indicator. I guess most who were there would also have an invite. And this year there are a few more seats (at least from the big tournaments, Grand and Continental). At least the number from Europe and Australia will be about the same as last year 😁 .

Lets see:
2 Continental (1x NA, 1x EU) = 16
8 Grand (2x US, 1x Canada, 5x "all other") = 32
23 US Prime = 23
6 Canadian Prime = 6
16 "all other" Prime = 16

This means the maximum number on worlds is 94 (when seats are passed down). Unless i missed some.
If you take out the "all other", and assume the same number as last year (9), you are left with:
9 from "all other"
49 from US + Canada. I assume of these 49 will at least 35 be there.

But when the seats are not passed down, ….
Well, it might be really familiar in this case 😉 .

Do we know if any seats are being passed down? Did anyone get Top 4 at a Grand and Top 8 at a Continental, or are there instructions in the Prime prize kits?

Seats do get passed down, at least at Nationals level is where I have confirmation.

Does this also explain why there are few prime events? They don't want people to qualify for world?

It might be. just checked the number of maximum qualifications. 94 is about the number of last year.
But they forgot that not all, who qualified, will come. I assume something between 50 and 75% will only show up.

Which is why the last chance isn’t giving, say, 8 positions.

irs giving top “however many slots are open” tickets.
