... but , if you want to fly the most endearing pilot in the game, a second Hyena will let you run 404 alongside the drone carrier (404 is not a good drone carrier, on account of its missing preservation protocols)

404 is a LOT of fun!

The second Hyena could also be a diamond boron baktoid (baktoid can't carry payload upgrades)

Three hyenas get too prohibitive points-wise when it comes to list building imo

MM has them on sale for $7. Didn’t know if it was worth it

Unlike @ficklegreendice , I find that having duplicates of the Hyena is good. It allows me to run much tankier swarms, which is the Seps' schtick. They're also a lot more imposing on the playmat. I have three, and most of my lists include either two or all three, in various configurations. Three Vultures backed by three Hyenas gives you some longer-lasting ships against heavy-hitting lists or lists that have quick alpha strikes.

"What about the N-1 and TIE Silencer?" you asked above. Can't answer on the Silencer, but the only reason you'd want two N-1s (IMO) is if you're considering pulling a Padme/Handmaiden combo out to play. One is usually sufficient.

They need to be closer to 25 points like the Torrent. or 24. Shows you how each is quite overcosted.

I find that I can make them work fairly well at current price point.

January is coming. They may see a point change. Never know.

I haven’t flown any CIS yet. I’ve beaten a list with a bomber before at worlds hanger bay BUT there was some bad luck in there mixed with a slightly bad decision on his part. I don’t think it was list oriented per se.

I may experiment with it in the near future - I finally caved and joined the last faction of the game when my FLGS did a 40% off sale on xwing today. Took one of everything CIS.

I personally got four, but that was because I hope to use them for epic play and such.

Since my goal is not to "win 55% against tier 1 worlds level lists piloted by a competent nonstupid opponent", I wasn't really answering the OPs question with that in mind. I was expressing an opinion about my use of Hyenas. Whether or not my point was relevant to yours, I was trying to make an observation about something you said, not support or contradict it.

Now? No.

Soon? Maybe. The Hyena is a great ship that's currently in the shadow of how undercosted the Vulture is. If they fix the Vulture's cost in the new year the Hyena will jump to the fore.

You can take 6* and win the Grands/Nats in Brazil. So...there's that.

Maybe. You're going to have to explain what your one liner means then if its not meant to be contradictory. One liners aint good for nuance when the general gist is in the other direction.

"Contradictory" was a poor word choice. Here's how the discussion was going in my head, and why I responded the way I did:

@Blail Blerg : Point 1 - I think multiple Hyenas are a bad idea, since they're not top tier. I'm saying this in support of my statement that they're overcosted above. Point 2: I really think Hyenas are overcosted, and should be cheaper. What you're saying, @feltipern1 , doesn't oppose that, but it does qualify it a bit.

@feltipern1 : I wasn't trying to argue, @Blail Blerg . I was saying that I have had success with multiple Hyenas at the current price point. I didn't realize that we were arguing about whether Hyenas are overcosted, so I wasn't trying to make it too relevant to your belief that they are.

I can see how it could be misunderstood, though. You're probably right about my statement being anecdotal evidence, but not necessarily relevant. I'll try to do better on the one liners.

I believe Hyenas have a tremendous amount of versatility that has yet to be explored in competitive play. I suspect they will get a points drop in January. The unlocked versatility will be revealed, and their points (or the points of their mods/squad-mates) will go back up in a future points adjustment.

I own 3 and often consider getting a 4th.

I currently run 1 on my competitive list.

By the way, that tournament in Brazil had 109 players. That’s an impressive win for a TUB army of 6.
