Rolling droidekas

By jocke01, in Star Wars: Legion

I'm currently assembling the droids from my core boxes and the rolling droidekas are pretty cool. I always like the idea of changing forms in minatures game.

However you also get a wheel mode token in the box so are the extra models even needed? What are the rules on using them, do you have to use them when rolling or is it optional, and can you use the rolling ones while not in wheel mode?

The cover situation will change a bit, so wondering how this is ruled in tournaments

Rules are covered in the RRG. Long story short, the rolling models are optional. You can just use the tokens if you want. Worth reading the actual entry in the RRG.

Ah thank you, only read through the learn to play guide looking for info about it. Didn't know it had an entry in rules reference, ty

Also, using the different model doesn't change the cover situation at all since you have Cover 2 automatically while in wheel mode, and you can't increase cover any further than that.

Now I'd agree it might change LoS, but I don't think that's super likely.

The TL;DR version:

you place the movement tool on the regular droid model, and you place the wheel mode version at the end of the template, then remove the un-rolled version and movement template.
