Puting together a control/cups/mill deck by Greyjoy to post shortly....

Hit me up with suggestions, I have two openings in the deck as it stands

One thought I had was 2x Veteran's Maurader's. They would help with my local metagame. Prepping this deck for a regional melee.

A few things that come to mind:

V isn't for Victory, it's for Valar Morghulis; however, Valar Morghulis is for Victory. Run it. Harbor Thugs, more like Harbor Baddies. Jack of All Trades can be a Thug and then some. LIV should always be x2, if not x3. Draw is your friend and one of your opponent's worst enemies. Replace a Bloody Keep with a Street of Sisters. Banner for the Kraken may be interesting. Pricer of War? Support of Harlaw? Got to say I'm jealous of your Risen from the Grave. It's so much cooler than being Risen from the Sea gui%C3%B1o.gif

or, if its only x1 you should (if not must) be running building orders and 3x first mate (to go get ii and to get it back once its been discarded).

Yeah, I'd have to agree with running at least 2x of Iron Victory, possibly removing a scouting vessel to make room... Also would replace the 2x Seafarer's bow with 2x Support of Harlaw. All the other suggestions also seem good to me.

Is the price curve a bit too high in this one? Not that many 0-1 gold characters (just Boatswain and Fishwhiskers) so you won't get very good setups... (Naval Escort and Iron Mines help of course) I'd at the very least include the refugees, and think twice about the Heralds and Harbor Thugs... Both tend to end up being just 2 gold monocons (having to setup a herald and not winning challenges with thugs) that you have to kill for claim, so the refugee would free up more gold for the better (more intimidating...) stuff. Stowaway and Scurvy Cutthroat would also be decent additions for cheap characters, Stowaway helps give your intimidate characters intrigue and Scurvy can be useful to thwart enemy attachments (Flogged And Chained, Milk of the Poppy...) - Personally I'd run these two way before running the Thug or the Herald ;)

Also I'd think twice about running Euron twice... the 5 gold can be a bit of a hurdle with your plot income. Oh, and the Veteran Marauders is actually pretty decent, another good choice for location control would be The Price of War.

I over-calculated the deck by two cards so here are the signifcant changes:

  • -2 Seafarer's Bows
  • -1 Aeron's Chambers
  • -1 Euron Crow's Eye,
  • -1 Herald of the Sea
  • +2 Veteran Maurader
  • +1 Longship Iron Victory

If I take out all the -1's that gives up to two more cards in the deck.

Valar Morghulis might be a thought running instead of an A Battle at Oxcross. It's very good if I have Wendamyr and Iron Mines in play and a couple Risen from the Depths in hand. There is another player that runs that locally so don't pull that in our metagame. It's a good thought for the tournament. I might also consider giving up an Empty Thrown for Summoning Season (to get Euron if I go down to one, or Benjen for the recycle) or Building Season. I would lean towards Summoning if I tighten up the character count.

I like the Herald's to set up the military threhold. When I have Randyl Tarly or set up for big military challenge with Power of Arms it allows me to pull up more War characters to power up. Also if I cut back to only one Euron, it makes the Heralds more important to tutor him up. If I move Summon Season in I can take out one Herald without regrets.

The Harbor Thugs I attach onto my military challenges late game to gather power. In my metagroup they actually draw aggro and take the heat off of some of my key pieces like Euron, Randyl, Nute, and Balon.

Taking my use under consideration, those strategies might not be as affective in a tournament setting.

Remove If I take out all the -1's that gives up to two more cards in the deck from the previous quote.
