When Black panther defends, timing using counter-punch is not clear for me. Has he defended as soon as he is declared as a defender or once attack is entirely resolved ?

In another word , can I play counter-punch before or after Retaliate damage ? (Tough question ).

What does the full retaliate rule say. Reminder text doesnt always give the full picture. This is common in MtG and Caleb mentioned it in a podcast recently (Deck-ceksior, I think)

That would be my first stop to understanding the timing.

But my assumption is if they play in the same window you choose the order. If they do infact play in the same window though that is poor templating that they are not worded the same

Retaliate occurs after the attack. So counter punch happens before retaliate damage.

edit: For more granularity, the choice to defend occurs before the boost card is flipped to reveal its value.

Does counter puch happen before or after the damage from the enemy is applied?

Obviously the intent of the card due to title is to apply it after damage. But what would the rules indicate

Basically does it go:

Enemy attack

Defend

Play Counterpunch and resolve its damage

Enemy damage

OR

Enemy attack

Defend

Enemy damage

Window to play counter punch

Ok, maybe it's just the terms but something like :

response : after your hero is declared defender..

Would have been by far more clear.
