Ordo Hydra & Sandy Mitchell's DH Novels

By Xisor, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

A discussion over on Warseer cropped up about the similarity of the Enslaver in the novels above and that most heinous conspiracy encountered in 'The Inquisition War'.

Obviously, they're somewhat distinct, but I wonder if anyone had already given thought to implementing a similarly 'bizarre' conspiracy within the Calixis Sector, perhaps even linking it directly to the one in 'TIW'? It's a thing which sits on my mind since reading it a wee while ago. Normally my instinct for personalised conspiracy goes either for the Demiurg, or for the Amarandine Syndicate, but I rather like the insidious, over-arching, not-quite-daemonic warp threat too.

As I say, just a point of inquiry; seems like an idea folks might have already touched or, if not, one that I imagine some of you might enjoy working with yourselves, so no harm in sharing!

Hi, Xisor! cool.gif

I've only just started reading Scourge the Heretic, but ... being a big fan of the Inquisition War, I think I like the parallel. At least in conjunction with with the over-arching "unknowables" that exist in the Calixis Sector. It could be be a wonderful "hook" for all kinds of adventures in DH. JMHO. happy.gif

One of the fun things with that idea is that I can think of at least four different xenos species in the Calixis Sector that could be the "Enslavers" without even trying. This is before we even touch on the maelific.... Mmmm.... Yummy mysteries. The Inquisition War is definately a big flashback in gaming, and "Inquisitor" (renamed Draco) was pretty awkward. To be fair, it was also one of the first ever 40K novels and was breaking into virgin territory. Fortunately Harlequin and Chaos Child really picked up the ball and ran with it in a much more smooth narative. The setting has really evolved in the last 20 years and it was fun going back to the old high school gaming days of the Warhammer universe. I am definately looking forward to seeing where Sandy Mitchell is taking his "Scourge" story line, so yet another novel to add to my pre-order list....

And Sister Cat, if you have not already reached it, the part in Scourge where you learn the ex-redemptionist assassin's solution to "only Nobles can wear red on Sepherus Secundus" had me literally laughing out loud. Enjoy!

One of the most inventive ideas for Redemptionists always wearing Red, even under cover. Hem Hem.
