Chuck some ideas at me.

By Stethemessiah, in Game Masters

First off, this is quite early in the campaign so don't want to be too harsh, but the party's Doc ( a medical droid, and rebel deserter) got 3 Threat on a streetwise check to find Neurotoxins while the group were mored at a shadow port, near the end of the last session.

Chuck some ideas for cool consequences at me folks, maybe just a little extra encounter of some sort.

TIA

If it’s a success, you can have their meeting with the seller interrupted by a bounty hunter with a contract on said seller.

Or maybe it's walking into a local police drug bust.

The drog can be contaminated, or thinned (give a boost to the resilience check to anyone who tries to resist it's effect), or it's simply just placebo and the droid have been ripped off.

Perhaps local security or the Imperials catch wind of their inquiries and will tail them or confront them.

May require your party to make some Charm checks or the Security attempts to arrest them

I would not suggest negating the item's usefulness as that amounts to a failure since they didn't find what they needed, but a common thing with Threat is to make the item less effective.

Since it is illegal, it would definitely make sense for their to be some sort of involvement with the law, but you should careful not to take it too far because some things are reserved for Despair. You can look at the CRB Skills chapter under Streetwise and Negotiation for additional ideas on how to spend Threat.

Thanks for.all the suggestions. I was thinking along the lines of people noticing him, more than anything else, and given the location definitely not the law, but rather shadier types who may take an interest. Or evn someone with connections to the Rebel Alliance.

Oh, fun! This is my favorite part of the game!

I think you're on the right track, reflecting their surroundings and the kind of problems most likely to find in a shadow port. The droid made some very open inquiries to find illicit and probably expensive items. People overhear such questions find a) a droid running around unsupervised b) with a lot of credits to spend c) on illegal stuff. Who might take an interest in this?

A) Someone who can make an easy profit selling stolen droids for parts or reprogramming.

B) Anybody who is looking for an easy to mark to steal, trick, or otherwise take their credits.

C) A seller of said products who sees a rival dealer in their area and starts trouble.

Have fun with that, and please let me know what happens next!
