A "New" Ship and a New Ship from Star Wars: Resistance (spoliery)

By CaptainJaguarShark, in X-Wing

Thought everyone might enjoy seeing this "new" x-wing from this weeks Star Wars: Resistance.

Venisa starfighter concept artVenisa's starfighter

1. The work of an ILM great.

Venisa Doza’s X-wing design comes courtesy of an Industrial Light & Magic veteran: Bill George. George was a model maker on Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and has since contributed to many Star Wars projects, including Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. George also created a practical scale model of the ship, which was then 3D scanned for the CGI version. Venisa’s X-wing has a very unique design — most especially the canopy and the proton torpedo tubes, which are located on the wings instead of the main body. Her X-wing, like Torch, are custom “hot rod” versions that she chop-shopped herself, much like Torra’s racer and droid are custom-designed. Her blaster is a variation of the same model that Han Solo carries.

Looks like Bill George returned to do more model work here. Loving it. Seems this X-Wing has been heavily customized, perhaps beyond what we thought was possible. It's mentioned in the same Bucket List's Extra that “Venisa, along with Torch and her X-wing, were designed to look like she’s been using the same equipment since the Return of the Jedi era, as she was a fighter pilot at a young age." I take this to mean this is a T-65 that's been so heavily modified. If that's the case then she's changed a considerably large amount of things about it.

There was also this ship in the concept art for the episode, though it did not seem to appear in the episode

This is the type of thing that could go with some sort of "Resistance Uglies" pack. Have the chassis have a higher level of configurability, a lot like the Gunboat, up to and including the dial.

Cool ship!!

2 atk, good shields and hull, very fast (but not very maneuverable), dual torpedo (or torpedo and missile), tech and maybe illicit slot?

I would want the X-Wing T-85 (and the FO drone X-Wing) first, but X-Wings, like TIEs, are never enough.

Those are cool but, even being a faction I dont play, the scum light freighter Galleon amaze me for good. Id like a lot this concept ship style a lot more than the guerrilla looks of the cartels and such

Kindda feels very scumy. Like the art of Ian McQue... kindda.

Could be a nice addition to huge ships tho.

Makes me think of the Arcadia. (Captain Harlock).

That thing has an Upsilon docked to it, doesn't it? Also kind of reminds me of the terrible Tofs from old Marvel Star Wars... good ol' space galleons...

It's not that bad.

The term you're looking for is steampop, by the way. Long story, but punk gets into the nitty gritty of the negative side of things, pop is... Well, cogs on hats. Think of it this way. How many poorly dressed or non custom tailored outfits do you see in steam"punk" design? It's all kinda' bougie.

And that's not because that's the clothes that are just available.

Because of the overall design Is so, so nautic (the only thing I would get off is its those flags all over)¨ but check from where the pieces for puting toghether that ship came from... The bridge is an AT-AT cabin!

And I agree that the concept of salvaged its not the main design style in SW ships but for my likes its well balanced in the Galleon (never liked those called uglies because... they´re, so not for my taste and an abuse of the ¨salvaged thing...). The low profile looking of this one really makes me feel that these could be friends of Jabba and not the baby yoda babysitter... Ships cool for a biggie. Liking a lot the starfighter concept ship design in the whole series, tho.

The astromech (Torch? Yep) looks like an old R3.

Edit: Hmm. Venisa Doza. Blue Ace's mother and Torch's "owner" (Old droids who are with decent people are not really owned. They're friends/family :) ). I sense an interesting "WTF are you doing out here?!?" moment between her and Tora may have featured or might feature later. Going to be an interesting interaction between Immanuel and Venisa some time for certain.

I like the pirate ships all told. The Lambda knock-off, the galleon, and the fighters all look cool. I'd be up for them as a set - probably big and little as a 'squadron box' and then huge as a separate one

I'm quite sure that Torch, like Venisa's starfighter, is heavily modified. The jetpacks on the shoulder of the legs certainly seemed to be tacked on.

Ok, now I learned something new. ;)

Anyway, the only way I see FFG release this SHIP is by removing its masts.

Maybe flattening out the flags so that they're along other flat surfaces. Have to agree that would be a lot of tiny plastic extended from the chassis in a way probably annoying to produce.
