Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rebel Crew. It's Time, FFG.

I've read speculation that, early on, his name *was* Ben Kenobi, and his title was Obi-Wan. Presumably, any Jedi was an Obi-Wan. By contrast, Darth was Vader's first name, not a title.

I think that really lines up with the way Darth and Obi-Wan and Ben got used in the original Star Wars.

Now, I think it worked out for the best that this flipped, since I think it'd sound silly the other way around, but it actually makes sense with how Leia knew him as Ben.

Tons of great ideas have been floated over the years for his ability. Second Edition offers even more design space. Maybe something based around pilot crits?

-- At the beginning of the End Phase, you may choose 1 friendly ship at range 0-2 and spend 1 Force. If you do, that ship may remove all stress tokens or repair 1 faceup Pilot Damage Card.

-- Or the anti Vader; At the start of the Engagement Phase, you may choose 1 ship in your firing arc at range 0-2 and spend 1 Force . If you do, that ship may gain a focus token for each stress token it removes .

-- Or a Palpatine invert; While another friendly ship defends against an attack, you may spend 1 Force to modify 2 of its dice as though that ship had spent 1 .

Lots of other great ideas I am sure all of you have. Anyways, considering all the crew that are in the game, it's high time.

Vote for Kenobi Rebel Crew in 2020

Rebels don't even have an Ashoka or Fulcrum crew yet which surprised me, Ashoka makes a lot of sense and also has force

Anyhow, as to effect, I'm inclined to do something like a reversed Seventh Sister: you've got some means of getting red/orange tokens off another friendly ship. I'd make it "another friendly" to avoid any self-contained BS. Nasty combos which require two ships are never quite so bad as a ship which can do that nasty thing on it's own. Often still bad (Roark/Dash), but still.

Perhaps something like "When another friendly ship at Range 0-2 would receive a stress, tractor, or jam token, you may spend 1 force. If you do, the ship receives your choice of stress, tractor, or jam token instead."

I mean, Obi-Wan does shut down the Tractor Beam.

Don't forget strain/deplete as well. How would you price that? I'm thinking at least 8-10, but no more than 14 or 15 for sure-force users are hard to balance.

No, I left them out, just like Ion and Disarm. Having him be a bit more narrow seems wise.

But now the more I think about it, getting rid of stress is probably just too potent, particularly since Tractor can be used as a movement trick.

Maybe only replacing a token with Stress would be fine, but expand the token options?

Or letting him outright remove a Tractor or Jam without effect.

I dunno. I'm getting lost in this. I still like the broad idea of an inverse Seventh Sister of sorts, and potentially around her price.

"When a friendly ship at range 0-2 would receive a tractor, strain, deplete, or jam token, you may spend 1 force to receive a stress token instead." Specifically before the token is received so tractor never triggers its effect and to avoid potential shenanigans. It lets you avoid something potentially very nasty but provides a clear downside. Also requires relative closeness, but not a super tight formation-make it another friendly ship if there's a potential same-ship combo.

All of this being said though (and as much as I want to see him in the game) I think that it would be best if FFG waited till we have more info, especially as we are due to have an entire show devoted to his life!

Disney is financially troubled right now though, -91% profit (dead tourism business), and Disney+ is eating money. Will be interesting to see what happens.

It's a shame about the delay, but it does make me a bit happy to see Disney taking a bit of hurt.

I agree that they should wait for the show to just so that they have more options than just the fluff appropriate tractor beam interactions.

Maybe an ability built around his sacrifice?
