Evading Dimensional Shamblers...

By AsylumSeeker, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

What automatic damage does a Dimensional Shambler inflict after you've failed an evade check?

The scenario: Joe Diamond was en-route to a mine of clue tokens at the Science Building and also dissect a few trophies to bag more tokens but needed a successful evade of a Dimensional Shambler in the streets. It was played like this: He failed the evade check and received no stamina damage but was forced into combat and passed his combat check and took the critter as a trophy, thereby escaping being thrown into dimensional limbo, as the chit states that happens only when failing a combat check. I can't help feel he should've been Lost In Time And Space after failing his evade check but that goes against the rule written on the tile???

Clarifications appreciated!

The penalty for failing an evade check against a monster is identical to failing a combat check. For a Dimensional Shambler, that means you're Lost in Time and Space (and therefore don't get to fight it).

Exactly what I thought! The game was put on hold until this was resolved, so now play can resume later. Cheers, Tibs!

Against Yog-Sothoth, easy way to replace an investigator with another. Just chuck your Evade to minimum (or at least maxed at 3) and run at the DS. Of course, only after you've traded away everything you can...
