USA trip - help in California

By Gualdo, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hi Guys,

next month I will be in California with 5 friends. I would like to purchase last CP of Defender's cycle, Lors of Winter and tourney KIT. I contacted FFG support and they told me that (for the kit) I can contact a store and tell him to buy set from them.

Since it is my first Time I fly over the ocean and I don't know how to act, can someone help me with this issue???

I will be in San Francisco last 2 days of June and in Los Angeles first 3 days of July.

So if some californian guy can gave me some hint (stores in these 2 big cities for example) would be great. I want to underline that I would pay for Core set, Kit and CP immediately and before going there so the store has no risks in that.

Except for the Kit that I love, would be great, for one time, to buy AGOT cards in store and not via internet and feel the curiosity to unpack all the stuff without having seen spoilers berfore :-)

thx in advance!!!

The store closest to LA that I am familiar with is in Norwalk. That might be too far for you go to pick stuff up, but if not let me know and I can give you the information. I doubt the store owner still caries AGoT, but she'd be more than willing to order things for you.

The guys up in the SF Bay Area might be able to help you out with stores up there. I'm only familiar with the store they play at, and that's ~40 mins by car from SF. Again, that's probably too far for you to go and pick things up, but if it's not, I can get you the information.

Hopefully there are other who are more familiar with stores actually in SF or LA (and hopefully they see this post!).

Thx for the info! The best solution would have to have address to some stores inside cities. In this way I can tell to my friends: go to beach that I go buying cards :-)

I thought in those 2 big cities there were huge metas and lots of stores selling AGOT cards and FFG products... I tried also searching in google but not results... I wait if some others users have news :-)

thx again for the help

Los Angeles is a large city and spills over into many smaller communities. Where are you staying/visiting? Ir's possible that someone might even be able to meet up with you and get you to the stores you want. Freerider and I are down that way a fair bit as well as the local meta.

Effectivly since I live in a 3000 people small village maybe I haven't Idea of the city "area" :-)

We will land the 17th june and we will stay in a motel6 in LA just one night... then go east to grand canyon, Las Vegas, parks, San Francisco, and then south to Los Angeles for our last 3 days. We have to reserve the hotel for our last 3 days in LA (1-2-3 July). We thought about marina hotel near the dock.

But let's say taht we have a car and a navigator so we can reach places in LA and, if my friends wants to go elsewhere I can join you in some other ways. At the end, a store near the "centre of the city" would be great, but I'm flexible!!!

If you can suggest me some stores it would be great. So We can arrange the Kit league buying and CP and I hope LoW reservation.

Thx in advance for the help!!!

Greetings,

I am a California native born in Los Angeles and living in San Francisco area so I will try to help you.

First a few questions

1. Do you know where in San Francisco you are staying?

2. How far are you willing to drive?

For instance, in San Francisco the Game Stores that I know have Game of Thrones for sure are all in the East Bay across the Bay Bridge. If you are willing to drive across the bridge it would be easier. I know of two game stores in San Francisco but neither of them supports Game of Thrones and carries Chapter Packs in stock. You would have to order them. For driving across the Bay Here is the info on 3 Stores.

I am listing them based on how easy they are to access. For ease of access I highly recommend the first option as it will be by far the easiest for you to get to and park. If you want to walk around a bit, you can goto Games of Berkeley as that is in the middle of Berkeley and there is interesting foot traffic. Berkeley will also be quieter as all the Uni students have gone home for summer. Black Diamond games is where people play but it is actually more like 1 hour and 30 Minutes from San Francisco and traffic could make it even longer (like 2 1/2 hours).

I would not recommend that drive at all for someone visiting the city of the first time unless you happened to be in SF on a Wednesday. Then you could visit the local meta when they are playing Thrones, otherwise the drive is not worth it as it could take twice as long as going to Oakland or Berkeley.

For Los Angeles,

Honestly LA is a black hole for Thrones as far as I know since most of the players stopped playing there.

There used to be a game store near Santa Monica Beach if you are near there I can try to find that one again and there is another one on Ventura Blvd in San Fernando Valley if you are near there. Do you know the city of the Motel 6 in La?

Oh here is another good one for LA that used to have a lot of Game of Thrones:

Game Empire of Pasadena

2302 East Colorado Boulevard,

Pasadena, CA‎ -91107

Oh Also, if you have any other destinations or goals for your trip, feel free to ask (amusement parks, nightlife, shopping, etc)

Great replies!!! Thx... in my searching I found only the Pasadena ones thx to internet site :-)

Since it is our first time in the states as you said it would be nice not to spend 2 hours by car only to go to a store since we stay 15 days and we have 4000 km to do ;-)

But tomorrow I will search all those address in google maps and then update "my situation" :-)

The first night in LA we stay in a motel6 close to the airport because we leave the day after... We have only booked for now first 4 nights in motel 6 LA, Needle, and 2 nights in Williams (Grand Canyon).

We want to reserve "from italy" also Las Vegas nights and Last 3 days in Los Angeles (We thought about Marina hotel on the bay).

Since we will leaveSan francisco and will make the coast to go to los angeles PAsadena store could be great... also because my girlfriend and other 3 guys want to go to beach and me and a friend of mine wants to buy games :-)

So let's say tomorrow I will check all the address and let you know!!!

thx for now!!!

I'm not sure I totally understand your itinerary. Are you flying into Los Angeles, then going to Las Vegas, then to Grand Canyon, then to San Francisco? Are you driving all of this, or do you take domestic flights back and forth?

Anyway, I hope you all have the trip of a lifetime. I have been to Italy twice, and both times were absolutely amazing trips. I hope my Golden State will deliver the same way your beautiful country did for me!

Syd

PS. In Los Angeles, you should make one lunch trip to the Farmer's Market near The Grove. Great open air food from all corners of the world.

Ou trip is "all by car":

We land in LA the 17th June at 2:15pm and we stay sleeping at motel six near airport. Then we move est the day after to "mojave". The day after let's go to Williams/Grand Canyon (2 nights). Then Las Vegas (2 nights). Then Death Valley and we sleep somewhere :-)

Yosemite and then we move to San Francisco (3 days). Then go south the coast (seems that this street is very panoramic and beatiful). We will sleep on the coast. Then we will move to Los Angeles last 3 days :-)

We will come back 4th july.

All the tour by car. We are 6 persons in a dodge caravan (for 7 :-))

I think this will be our "first life holiday" cause none of us has been in USA before... hope that the flights will be even cheaper in the future so I can join you in some tournament :-)

For example NY is far more cheaper for us so maybe a tournament there should not be a bad deal :-)

Depending on your route, you may pass near by Game Kastle in Santa Clara. GK has a strong AGOT presence and responsive management.
