Most important/useful supplements for Clone Wars era F+D characters

By Kaiju, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hello,

I plan on starting a huge campaign next year, playing the entire clone wars era. I have everything from EotE, nothing from AoR, and the core book plus the Guardian book for F+D.

Catching up on purchases, I wonder which F+D books are important and/or add the most useful things? New mechanic systems interest me - I ll be having the Gadget+Gears and Vehicle books, so those are not as important to me.

Thanks a lot!

For Clone Wars era? Definitely Collapse of the Republic and Rise of the Separatists. Either is okay by itself, but the two together are best. They contain a new career specifically for Jedi with 4 specs and a bunch of supporting equipment. That runs a pretty steep price though.

As far as books that are strictly from the FaD line? I'm afraid I can't help you there.

The 2 clone wars books would be 1st to get, since they help define the time you are playing in. Then I would say the AOR core book would be the best addition. It give the rules for Duty which is good for the clones troops to help with giving rewards for their performance. Also alot of those careers are war based which I'm guessing will be a big part of your campaign. It will give you a lot of troops and vehicles you can reskin back to your time frame.

The F&D Career books have different rules added in all of them, but they are not required for the game. So I wouldn't get those until you get the 3 books I recommended above.

Definitely the 2 clone wars books. After that I'd put either dawn of rebellion (dark times era book not strictly FaD, has a lot of universal specs like padawan survivor [with the totally awesome secrets of the jedi and improved talents which make that spec the single best at crafting lightsabers, btw in collapse of the republic there's a way to turn a lightsaber into a thermal detonator essentially, which if you can craft a new saber super easily becomes more appealing] which I think I prefer to padawan and there's retired clone trooper for clones, and the best eote legal starting ship for most parties the kst-100 executive light transport) or more likely endless vigil (lightsaber crafting rules). I'd also highly rank disciples of harmony (rules for apprentice characters, and I think it has ceremonial armor and other interesting gear) and knights of fate (rules for other types of followers). If going into aor line I'd recommend forged in battle (because soldiers, and scar talents which are on the last 2 pages) and maybe stay on target). Keeping the peace also has armor crafting rules and some interesting gear.

Apart from the two Clone Wars eras books, I guess the important question is "what sort of campaign do you want to run?"

If you're going to be running a Firefly-esque game where the PCs operate on the fringes of society, then you really don't need much more than what you've already got.

If you're going to be focusing on Force users and don't want everyone to be of the Jedi career (it can be boring for some if all the PCs are in the same career), then I'd suggest checking out Endless Vigil (Sentinel book, offering lightsaber construction rules for the Jedi types and suggestions on running urban encounters and investigative-style adventures) and Savage Spirits (Seeker book, with types for wilderness encounters/adventures, a plethora of new potential animal companions, and beast riding rules).

Thanks a ton everyone! I ll check out Endless Vigil then, and the era sourcebooks. That should do nicely, as I fully expect the story arc to follow at least 1, if not 2, jedi characters go through the clones wars and, hopefully, at least one survives the Order 66 moment, and will have to go into hiding, which makes crafting lightsabers a potentially crucial undertaking.

For this Savage Spirit might be a good choice. It's for wilderness environment what Endless Vigil is for Urban environment.

Nexus of power would likely be worth it as it has force vergences locations etc. Strongholds of resistance would also likely be useful.
