Getting back into the game with Ackbar

By Tiberius the Killer, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi Gentlemen,

It's been ages since I've played, but I think I'm ready to get back into it! I hear Ackbar is back in action, which I am very excited about (and thanks for your help today @BrobaFett !)

Name: New Ackbar?
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Admiral Ackbar

Assault: Advanced Gunnery
Defense: Rift Ambush
Navigation: Hyperspace Migration

MC80 Assault Cruiser (114)
• Admiral Ackbar (38)
• Lando Calrissian (4)
• Engine Techs (8)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Early Warning System (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
• Defiance (5)
= 193 Points

Assault Frigate Mk2 B (72)
• Intel Officer (7)
• Caitken and Shollan (6)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
= 98 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Hondo Ohnaka (2)
• Comms Net (2)
= 22 Points

CR90 Corvette A (44)
• Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
• Jaina's Light (2)
= 53 Points

Squadrons:
• Shara Bey (17)
• Tycho Celchu (16)
= 33 Points

If I go second I assume I'll get playing the Rift Ambush. My plan will be to sweep around them very quickly. Otherwise I'll mine Purrgil points and let them come to me, or kill a lot with a doom pickle.

Anyways, I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts. I'm a little nervous for such a light squad screen, but I really wanted TRC90.

Thanks!

I've run a similar list before where I use a 2nd TRC90 (over the Assault Frigate) and use the extra points to beef up the squads and add a 2nd flotilla. I use Strategic Adviser to ensure I can usually out activate my opponent (6 activations with the Adviser). My take on this list ends up with a bit less firepower than your list but I like being able to out maneuver my opponent and activate Defiance last if I want.

If you want to beef up your squads, you could trim most of the upgrades off the Assault Frigate. Personally, I like to run TRCs and possibly ECM if I have the points to spare. I feel like turning a blank into a double is going to be about the amount of damage improvement you're going to get from your set up. Also, if squads are a worry, you could add slicer tools to the flotilla to help buy you a bit of extra time until you can bring down the carriers.

Honestly, I don't know which version would be better though.
