Question about "put into play"

By mederkaiser, in KeyForge

Hello,

So i'm a pretty new player of Keyforge (got my first deck less than 2 weeks ago) and i'm in love with it.

So i have this card named "Overlord Greking" the text reads as follow : After an enemy creature is destroyed fighting Greking Overlord, put that creature into play under your control.

What i understand so far : If the creature got a "play :" ability it doesn't trigger because the creature is not played. If the creature got a "destroyed :" it would be triggered. Overlord Greking need to survive to activate the effect. Correct me if i'm wrong.

The only part that i don't understand is "put it into play in your control". What does it mean ? Do i get to put it standing up or inclined (not sure of the terms in english sorry) ? Can i use it if it's standing up ?

Thanks for any help :D

Probably easiest to explain with an example:

It's your turn, and you have Overlord Greking in your battleline. Your opponent has Dr. Escotera . Overlord Greking fights Dr. Escotera.

Overlord Greking takes 4 damage, Dr. Escotera takes 7, destroying it. Dr. Escotera goes to the discard pile. Since Overlord Greking has an ability that interacts with a card after it is destroyed, it is able to pull Dr. Escotera out of the discard pile and put Dr. Escotera into play in YOUR battleline (on either flank and exhausted, per the rules of entering play), but you do not receive the benefit of Dr. Escotera's Play: ability.

Hope that helps!

Why wouldn't you trigger the play ability?

Why wouldn't you trigger the play ability?

Main reason is because of the rulebook (page 13 in Version 1.5):

PLAY
When a card has a “ Play: ” ability, the effect occurs any time the card is played. For creatures, artifacts, and upgrades, the ability resolves after the card enters play. For action cards, the ability resolves, and then the card is immediately placed in its owner’s discard pile.
If an ability “plays” a card from a source other than hand, “
Play: ” abilities on the card resolve. If an ability “puts” a card “into play,” “ Play: ” abilities on the card do not resolve .

Overlord Greking put the card into play. And because of this the play effect does not trigger.
