Silencer color scheme?

By Lightningclaw, in X-Wing

I have a 1st edition Silencer. It is pretty much flat black except for the cockpit.

In the 2nd edition silencer expansions I see at my FLGS, the model is a smaller sculpt (no longer comically oversized) but looks flat black still.

Here on FFG’s web page the silencer has a different paint job with gray trim https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/x-wing-second-edition/products/tievn-silencer-expansion-pack/

Am I going crazy? Is the paint job real and I was just tricked by the light in my FLGS? Or are the silencer models still using the 1st edition color scheme?

The pictures on the website are definitely a lot more gray than the model. 2e model is very black.

Other than the obvious size difference, there are minor sculpt changes, like the back of the model in shape and engine design. The 2.0 model is blacker too.

Hmm. I may just stick with the 1.0 model for now. I think the money would be better spent on other x-wing stuff.

Thanks for the input! This does clear it up a little.

My 1st ed. Silencer was too black for my tastes so I did a little dry brush with a dark grey to help give it some more depth and definition.

I don't know if you paint or not, but dry brushing is one of the simplest things you can do. You Tube it if you don't know what it is, and practice on some old green army men or Matchbox™ cars.

You don't need a good brush either, you can pick up a dollar store make-up brush (the soft bushy kind) and a cheapo bottle of acrylic craft paint (less than $2) from JoAnnes or Michaels, or WalMart.

Hope that helps.

The Chonky Silencer is more intimidating. This is a good move.
