Rush Killer (Snipertron 400)

By Rager45, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

This deck has some pretty cool interactions. When I don't make play mistakes I own my friends Orc/skaven rush

3x loremaster of hoeth
3x Shadow Warrior
2x Intiate of Saphery
2x Illyriel
3x Zealot Hunter
3x Dwarf cannon crew
2x Hammerer of Karak Azul
1x Dwarf miner
2x Dwarf Ranger
3x Troll Slayers
3x Pilgrimage
3x Banish
2x Greater Healing
3x Aliance (Dwarf/High Elf)
3x Shrine of Asuryan
3x The Glittering Tower
3x Blessing of Valaya
3x Stubborn Refusal
3x Demolition

50 Cards

I consistantly begin my second turn with Loremaster and Blessing of V. There is so mush sniperific fun here. Initiate/Tower, Ranger/Illyriel. The synergy is endless. I usually stablize with loremster, ranger, zealot, and Illyriel ( i almost never use on my opponent. Rinse and repeat. I like finishing with Troll Slayers. So, any improvements anyone? Sorry if I'm repeating any decks. I've looked and I don't see alot of mention of Zealot. I would think he would be gold in such a rush environment with so much allying.

Yeah I usually have x3 zealot hunter in pretty much every order deck I build. I like the idea of using the hero to return them and other come into play effect units

Thanks. Something else I find funny. It's so funny it took me so long to discover the Loremaster and Blessing of Valaya combo. This was my 3rd attempt at dwarf / high elf sniper. That's just 2 quick direct damage. It was infront of my face since Assualt came out.

Note that for Loremaster/Blessing to work on turn 2, you must have played a unit on turn 1. You'll often do that with this deck but it's worth mentioning.

Hi,

It seems a very innovative and fun deck, but to be honest it don't seems competitive. I will try some test-plays later to see how it works.

First question : which capital board you use ? I guess dwarf, for 1st turn Cannon crew.

For first look the deck seems a little bit slow. Note that an orc rush (even without skavens) could reliably have 8 power at turn 2 in the BF.

Banish and Pilgrimate in the same deck seems overcosted for the effect (against units which most often cost 1-2)

Ranger seems lacking reliability, as it is only 2, and only 9 units to trigger it.

The same is true for Glittering tower, because damaged but surviving units are nowhere common, especially because most of your units have 1 or 2 HP. (not speaking about the usefullness of Greater Healing... as a coaster) These could be used reliably only if you could reuse again and again the Loremasters which is unlikely against a fast deck.

You are absolutely dependant on Illyriel to make your deck work on maximum, so include 3 of her. Otherwise she's ability won't trigger before turn 4, which is maybe too late against a good rush deck.

About some card interactions :

- Loremaster + Blessing only work if you target a unit with the Blessing BEFORE Loremaster enter play (so you obvibiusly need another unit)

- Stubborn Refusal cannot be used on units who received enought damage to die, so I don't think it is really that usefull for you to include 3

Maybe you should try some Zufbar Engineers to use with Illyriel/Ranger, as they are fine with leaves play abilities too.

Yeah I'm using The Dwarf Capitol. Loremaster/Blessing doesn't work without another unit? I thought u can target Loremaster with his own trigger because the trigger happens after he enters play. Then in response to his trigger Target him with blessing. Does that work? I see your point on Banish, but Pilgrimage is pretty cost effective on turn 3 it only costs 1. My second build of this deck with more rangers,Illyriel, and engineers was alot less consistant because I'd be loyalty locked out of a first turn play half the time. This build is flush with 1 loyalty. Yeah tell me how playtesting goes. I don't have alot of testing options because me and my friend seem to be the only people in Maryland playing.

The Loremaster's effect is forced and you can't respond to forced effects. In general, you can't respond to things coming into play anyway. Instead, you'd need to Bless a different unit, then play the Loremaster and assign the indirect damage to the unit you Blessed.

I'm in MARYLAND!! Baltimore to be exact. I can play anywhere from Legends in Towson, to G&S in Glen Burnie, or even Dreamwizards in Rockville. I've been trying to get Legends and G&S to run tournies, but maybe the new league kit will get them started.

Plus the Loremaster/Valaya combo seems like a waste - all that just to do 2 piddly points of indirect damage? Not that exciting, unless I'm missing something.

Your deck looks neat though...I think it absolutely needs the Slayers of Kadrak whatever they're called. An absolute Rush killer for sure.

When you redirect the damage from the Blessed unit, it won't be indirect. So Loremaster/Blessing is actually pretty decent given how poor Order is at targeted removal in general. Note that it does 2 damage, which is the magic number to kill Deathmaster (the nemesis of all Order decks that actually play units).

Oh! D'oh! My apologies, I was mixing up Blessings of Valaya with Master Rune of Valaya. I'm dumb. Cool combo, Rager!

with the slayers of karak kadrin, can you defend, assign damage, then sacrifice to kill another attacking creature before the damage is applied?

Yep. Obviously, only if they're attacking into your battlefield. Note that the creature you kill with the Slayers ability will deal its damage too if you do it that way though.

Hmmm looks alright vs medium speed decks.

I would like to see the rush decks you face. I have trouble seeing this "owning" a true well built/played rush deck.

I give you a nod for trying, and you did come up with an interesting deck, plus I have a lot of respect for any deck post thats not another "Look how fast this is" Really they all are the same with just a few odd changes that mena little, I like seeing decks that break that mould.

I just see the fast decks I build/play against running over this deck too fast for any of the combos to really get going.

Best of luck with it....

As far as anti rush snipping, I have run a chaos damage dealing snipping deck that goes well vs them. Although a early clan moulder elite can give me fits.
