Black One and Disabled Power regulator

By missileaway, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ran into something I hadn't seen last night in a casual game.

My opponent's Poe Dameron used Black One to attempt to escape a kill box. Poe Took the ion in place of the weapons disabled.

Poe failed to escape the kill box and takes multiple shots and winds up with a disabled power regulator.

Disabled power regulator text:

Before you engage, gain 1 ion token.
After you execute an ion maneuver, repair this card.

Poe had already engaged, so he would not gain the ion token from disabled power regulator until next round.

At the end of the round Poe takes the ion maneuver from the ion token assigned by Black One.

Does this ion maneuver repair Disabled power regulator even though he has not received the ion token from the card?

I couldn't see an obvious reason why it wouldn't as the card doesn't specify that the ion maneuver performed needs to be from ion tokens assigned by the card. It ended up being academic as Poe died anyway, but it was an interaction I'd never experienced before.

Yes, they are two independent clauses.

OR

If a ship gets ioned by another ion effect (turret or ordinance), the Crit flips down.

It’s good design. That way a ship is never ioned 2 turns in a row.

just do what the card says. doesn't matter where you get ion tokens from. after you execute an ion maneuver, repair the card.

Thanks all. I suspected as much but didn’t want to have missed something.

Also, why is he performing the ion maneuver at the end of the round? This should be done during his next activation.

Fingers were faster than my brain. He executes the ion maneuver during the next activation.
