R2-D2 and C-3PO
My only thought was, "Hey, I could give a Clone Trooper unit an aim and dodge token to share for 50 points."
Which, I guess isn't the best reaction you'd want from these two iconic characters.

I had the exact same thought... But I'm also thinking of running 2 units of clones that only generate tokens for the rest of the army....

I do that right now with one unit lol

And then my reaction is “I could take another clone unit for 50 points”

I didn't say it was the
best
option for 50 points
So here’s my take (wow free unsolicited advice that’s not worth anything 🙄 ).
R2’s 2 pip can get him 3 moves in a turn, if you take a standby, but if you wanted a card that gives activations or actually does decent damage, this isn’t it.
R2’s 3 pip is like a worse version of No Time for Sorrows, but you also get a free Smoke action, before anyone activates no less.
R2’s 1 pip only helps him complete his mission, which can be clutch, but so can another 1 pip that helps your units get an edge during combat.
I think R2’s 3 pip is the best of the 3 and the rest I don’t see putting in a list.
At 35 points, R2 can be that VP that wins the game and once Republic gets vehicles he’ll be even more useful (yeah, yeah, for those rebel people too 😆 ). 3PO can be useful, but swinging 50 points can be a lot harder than 35. Just my opinion, but I could be missing something.

The republic has vehicles now.
If C3PO dies, does R2s repair bring him back full life? 50 points for a 10 wound (if they use both repairs on itself) seems like a really good deal.

Good point. Sorry, I always discount BARCs. I think they’re over priced, so not worth it.
So you can have R2 on his own but not 3PO. Fine with that.

Depends if he counts as a separate unit, but I guess not so it would be possible. On the other hand they have only 8 health points, cause repair 2: capacity 2 means that you can repair max 2 health all in all, but you can do it in a single free action (with repair 2)

R2 can heal a total of 4 damage with repair 2: capacity 2 because page 59 of the rules reference says:
"When a unit uses the repair x: capacity y ability, place one wound token on the card that has the repair x: capacity y keyword, and choose a friendly droid trooper or vehicle unit at range 1 and in line of sight. Remove a total of up to x wound, ion, and/or vehicle damage tokens from the chosen unit or restore up to x miniatures to that unit."
So he can repair 2 wounds twice essentially, so a total of 4 damage

Don’t sleep on that free Victory point!

Once. The capacity is 2, so R2D2 can, as one action, repair 2 damage to a vehicle, but only one time.

Nah, it's a total of 4! Capacity is the number of times you can perform the action. The first value is how many points you repair each time you do it.

No, it's the number of wounds the unit can hold.
From the RRG:
This ability cannot be used if the card that has the repair x: capacity y keyword has a number of wound tokens on it equal to or exceeding y
Technically, R2D2 could repair 3 wounds, if he chose to only do one wound the first time, and 2 the second. Though, I think it's clear RAI that capacity is the limit of wounds that can be placed. I would expect a clarification once R2 releases that he cannot heal more than 2 wounds total.

Right, but remember you only place 1 wound token on the card each time you perform the action. You don't put 1 wound for each point that you repair:
QuoteWhen a unit uses
the repair x: capacity y ability, place one wound token on
the card that has the repair x: capacity y keyword
The "Y" value is telling you how many times you perform the action.
Am I correct in thinking that c3po counts as the same unit as r2d2 so blast off effects c3po as well... and that’s why we get the artwork of threepio clinging on for dear life

Yeah I'm blind. I read that 5 times and didn't see that bit until just now.

My bad, you're right.

Haha, all good. I mean, it's called "Capacity". Sure sounds like it's the total limit of what can be repaired.
But yeah, repairing 4 points seems quite good. Maybe bring some vehicles alongside him as well? I wanna know more about that Republic tank!

Republic? Isn't R2D2 Rebel faction only?
Just now, SoonerTed said:Republic? Isn't R2D2 Rebel faction only?
First multi faction, in article mentions and in other articles and Q&A that it will be available for both republic and rebels.
