Special new rules incoming?

By lunitic501, in Star Wars: Legion

At the end of the armada stream yesterday they plugged there legion stream that they are doing tommorow (thursday) and they said "we will have some special new rules for you." Any speculation as to what that could mean?

I’m hopeful that there will be new units shown (probably Cassian and Iden) each with their own special rules.

While that would be cool, I will be very disappointed if they show new units that aren't CIS/GAR.

I understand, but it’s all but confirmed that those 2 commanders are coming to Legion so I think it would make sense to spoil them during the FFG live right before releasing the article.

But I admit that I’m also a little bit hopeful because I can’t wait to get Iden Versio and paint her! :P

Now you've gone and done it, I'll have to watch the stream because of that possibility.

Terrain clarifications perhaps? New line of sight rules? New rules for old models, such as Clone AT-RT rules?

I'm excited because it doesn't sound like these rules are tied to any specific new models or else I think they would have plugged it that way.

My thoughts exactly. I personally think its possibly a new format like larger or smaller games

My guess is new phase 0 cards because Luke Eddy said they would be "fire"

Might be a campaign or 4 player rules? that would be exciting.

I think that it could be rules for more thematic scenarios, or maybe they've been looking at Legion posts and decided that wookies and At-rts are Republic units too. Or maybe it's a neutral terrain thing like tusken raiders and jawas and the like.

Rule fixes to Tauntauns maybe? Be still my beating heart.

They set up that each wave we will be getting 8 units now instead of 6. The best guess is that we will get 6 units of GAR/CIS and two for Rebel/Empire. Many think we will have Iden/Cassien so that would fill the spot for those two GCW units.

With the new R2/3P0 article today it really does seem like they will do a GCW battle tomorrow and show off the new counterpart ability for all 3 (6?) units.

What if Iden Versio and Cassian Andor both have units with the counterpart Keyword...

Cassian gets K-2S0

Iden Gets Inferno Squad

Does this seem reasonable?

Yea that is allready the rumor going around except everyone thinks iden will get dio or whatever her droid was called

Could the new rules be counterpart and anything else r2/ threepio related given the article that just dropped

That is what I have heard as well. With R2 and CPO drop today, tomorrow will be showing off the other two new counterpart units. The fact that they do not even have what factions are being played I think is a good sign that it will be a surprise drop.................. Or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cassian will go great with Jyn and I bet make her cards a lot better. Her 2 pip trust goes both ways is the big red flag that she wants somebody their to share tokens with. K-2S0 will most likely be the combat option to add on.

Iden will be the infiltrate option for the Empire. That was the whole Inferno Squadron shtick in the game and her book. Dio I am not sure about, but could go two ways? He could do repair for Viper droids or maybe give out calculate for the rest of Inferno Squadron if they come out.

I really hope that's not the case, because I will probably die under an avalanche of JoJo jokes once it is out...

Turns out the special rules are a new 500 point skirmish format

To be honest it's pretty much what I expected. Didnt think anything to crazy was going to be coming out of this stream

It's not the most exciting but it's not the worst I've always been a bit suspicious of the three by three formats though because of how crazy op some units get.. boba, fleets and the like.

Nah, I didn't either, it's just disappointing to see the focus on smaller games.

Smaller more accessible games may be better for reeling in more casual players, maybe snagging some of those X-wing folks, but I'm just not interested. They've been trying it for Armada lately too. Rebellion in the Rim is all about small skirmish battles. I'm a sector fleet guy... soon to be grand army guy.

I like the idea of fielding an entire Legion of my finest troops .

Added the new 500pt system to Tabletop Admiral

Removed Imperial Discipline since I assume this will replace it.

The battle plan cards are still the ones for the 800-points format.

As I understand it, there is no battle plan deck building in this format. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
