Prime Championships Data Collection 2019-2020 Season

By Truthiness, in Star Wars: Armada

I got Edmonton in today as well.

Chicago is entered

Oh wow so Rebels can win! But only in Canada it seems...

Who were the winners?

Anyone know if any of the Krakow lists showed up anywhere? It's a Grand instead of a Prime, but it still provides a snapshot of the current high-level meta.

**Correction 2** So uh...nobody seems to know who did the input for Toronto. Maybe @jamie nasmyth?

The Polish Grand's organizer shared the fleets with the Hungarian group:

That's very interesting! Last year Polish Nationals were dominated by squads. This year there were only 21 squads in the top 8 fleets. Quite a few squadless fleets doing well

And great to see another double Neb B fleet in 4th :)

The double Neb was not 4th 😁. It was 10th.
4th place was the single SSD with squadrons.

The top 8 (7th is double in the list, 5th is missing) had a total of 35 squadrons, with an average of 71.6 points.
I would still call this squadron heavy 😉. 3 fleets had no or min. squadrons (2 times 0, 1 time random TIE fighter). The remaining fleets had an average of 113 points.

7th is double, this is why 5th was missing

Ah doh, I thought the list on Warlords was in order. Missed the "place"in the title. So not as different from previous year as I thought!

@jamie nasmyth

Polish Grands were in Warsaw not Krakow (Euros were in Krakow tho).

Just for clarity ;)

@Truthiness on the Google sheet in the Imperial Commander section it looks like Emperor Palpatine is missing.

Yup, definitely is. I'll get it.

5th place is missing and there are two 7th place lists. Any idea which one was actually 5th?

Emperor fixed (I...uh...think? Nobody's taking him) and just noticed that @CyborgNinja beat me to the Warsaw data, even addressing my confusion with the placing.

So, if I'm reading that right...Moralo Eval spam has only been taken 3 times, resulting in 1st and 8th place in Germany, and 2nd place in Alberta?

So 100% of the lists taking him are top-8 placement?

Uhhh...that's...not bad. I mean, it's bad, but also...LOL.

I've been considering a Moralo tracker since he has the potential to be a problem. I might well do so since I'm sitting around waiting at a pharmacy.

Unfortunately, no. Maybe the organizer? @Wawa666

I have got a problem. I'm in between of taking the fleet I want to play (double Cymoon with dictor) and the fleet I don't want to be played (Moralo's taxi business).

These are two things I want to proof. If Moralo is broken or not. And if my lovely fleet is as good as I think.

Sebastian B (Imperial Jerjerrod) was 5th, Bartek K (Rebel) is true 7.

The tracker for Moralo is up and running.

It's interesting that it shows how powerful Moralo is, but that nobody seems to know it yet.

IE., 13% of winning lists have him, but only 3% of all lists brought him? I expect to see that number start to climb pretty quickly...

I say this every year, but it's worth saying again: I don't put much stock in the winners column. In three round tournaments, which most Primes tend to be, matchups matter a lot. 1st and 2nd place are usually separated by very few tournament points. I put more faith in the top 10% bracket, which includes a larger sample of the truly high performing lists.

Moralo is only at 8% in that bracket. Part of that is the Edmonton #2 who had extremely favorable matchups (because of how their standings were printed, I was able to figure how who played who for the most part). The only other list is Dennis. And well... it's Dennis. At this point, all I'm really willing to conclude is that Dennis is a magic Armada wizard that makes wierd **** work.

In general, I wouldn't make many conclusions this early. The early trends of last season changed a fair amount toward the latter half. There are some big metas coming up in the next few weeks that are a bit more plugged in to the online Moralo discussion. I'd be curious to see if he pops up there and how well he does.

Or people know he's powerful, but don't want to win by abusing him.

Also keep in mind, it's 13% of Imperial winning lists. That 13% is comprised of literally one person: @Tokra. Like I said, it's very early to judge and the winner column makes for some funky numbers.
