Introducing TTA Share, a site for sharing and commenting on lists, batreps, and mini painting

By werdnaegni, in Star Wars: Legion

Short version:

I made Tabletop Admiral. I have a new site that uses Tabletop Admiral share links to share match results/batreps and lists. There's also a place to share images of your minis, terrain, etc. Check out ttashare.com.

Also there are links in your Legion profile on the main tabletop admiral site for you to share on the new site. You'll have to log in on the new site though with google.

Long version:

I've been working on this for a while. I always found Reddit, Discord, and this forum to have their purposes but not be super tailored to Legion players and the things we like to share and discuss. You share a list in Discord, and the conversation moves on and it can get missed altogether with no discussion. The Legion subreddit is just not that active, and there's no great way to search for painted minis of the unit you're looking for. This forum is...a forum, which is great, but not exactly a content sharing platform.

So I made this site and here is my brain dump for its purpose/what you can do with it:

  • Share a Battle Report. You can put as little or as much into it as you want. I'd love to just have your match results so we can do some data analysis on it, so please don't feel like you have to do a full report in order to share. So at the least you just have to put the two list codes, who won, a title, the battle plans used, and the date. But you can also add images with captions, a big old writeup...however long you want, what event, if any, it was played at (and it will give you previously used options as you type), a Youtube link if you have one, and probably more I'm forgetting.
  • Share your lists: I always wanted to add commenting on Tabletop Admiral, but I just didn't really use the right tools when building the site to make that all that feasible. But now you can share your lists and have people comment on them, make suggestions, tell you that your list sucks, and all the things you've always wanted.
  • Share your paintings. I hope this gets used a lot, because I think it will be great to be able to just search for "Luke" and see how everyone painted their Luke. A great way to get inspiration I think. But you can also share terrain, whole armies, whatever.
  • Search for lists with a specific unit
  • Search for battle reports for a specific unit to see how that unit fared.
  • Search for paintings of a specific unit (or any tags someone might have used)

So while the site isn't done, I think and hope you all can get some use out of it. I'm looking forward to having lots of data on lists and match results to do some analysis and give you all some neat data.

Briefly, some of the future plans:

  • I'll be expanding the search functionality greatly, to include combos of units and upgrades and other such things.
  • I'm going to work on the navigation a bit. I like the sidebar, but a few things need a bit of work.
  • If you all dislike logging in with Google, I can work on adding other methods.
  • Add tags for lists and batreps, so you can search for meta words and such that people might use
  • Work on the notifications system a bit
  • Fix bugs, probably

Just like Tabletop Admiral, I expect/hope for this to be an evolving project that changes with all of your feedback. If you've been around for a while, you know Tabletop Admiral used to be nothing like it is now.

So I hope you all will use and enjoy this and give me feedback. Unlike a list builder, a site like this is only as good as the amount of use it gets, so please spread the word, share some lists, and let me know what you think!

That was just me being lazy. I didn't actually have four images since it wasn't a real batrep haha. I just rotated it (the caption jokes go along with that).

Glad you think it's cool otherwise!

The presentation was hilarious.

You do a great service to the ffg miniatures community, thanks for your hard work!

Cheers,

Arctic

Fixed some issues with the search functions. Now we just need some things to search, eh?

Wow, this is so cool!

I'll make sure to use it for my next game.

Hooray! I think this is gonna be the hardest part...getting it started! Nobody can see the value until we've got a good chunk of content on there, so let's do it! Post your lists and paintings errybody!

You still have the react favicon ;)

No, that's the updated Imperial symbol. They want a more modern look now.

Jk, gotta fix that.

Apparently for a while yesterday, you couldnt use the site if you weren't logged in. That's fixed now.
