Everyone Is Complaining About Epic Stuff

I may not have "loved" Force Awakens and Last Jedi, but they were better then the prequel trilogy by a long shot.

I know that Lucas had originally envisioned a 9 movie set for Star Wars. Thus why he titled the first movie "Episode IV", with the intention of at some point making episodes 1-3 then later episodes 7-9. But to be honest, I've long thought that Return of the Jedi was where the story should have ended. The Extended Universe novels were a mixed bag. Some were good, some were okay, but many were kind of bad. The video games again ranged from "decent" (the Force Unleashed games) to "good" (Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2), to something that probably shouldn't exist. With most of them being acceptable, but nothing outstanding.

That's a pretty unfair generalization and assessment friend Moser. And if nothing else the sales speak for themselves. The movies just didn't meet expectations. Their are always going to be do-no-wrong fans that can look pay pretty much anything in any IP, but when even the Stars who played in the movies are saying they weren't that great, then you have a problem.

I was kinda on board with 7, like I knew they had to blaze new ground while being true to the original, and mostly I thought they kinda got it. And R1 was fantastic AF only I thought it was a tragic waste of story potential when they killed the entire cast off. 8 was great literally right until I left the theatre and actually had the chance to think about it. Then I realized how bad it was. And then Solo I didn't really have any expectations going in, Han was never really my guy, but I found myself rather bored with it and having to actively stop and suspend my disbelief at several points to get through it which was very jarring. And when it totally bombed at the box office I wasn't surprised. Again, it was like they tried to cram what could have easily been a trilogy all it's own in to one movie, so another waste there.

The funny thing for me though is that almost every deleted scene, would have like freaking MADE those movies. Han crashing in a TIE in a training accident, Luke trolling Rey in training, and a few others throughout would have been great steps in the right direction. But oh well.

ON TOPIC, at least we get new ships, even if everyone was too big to get into Epic.
