If a Chest contains "2 Curse"...

Clearly, the Overlord gets 2 threat per hero, or 8 threat.

Does the hero that opened the chest also get 2 curse tokens placed upon him?

...or do Curse tokens only come about from things like Dark Priests and other effects.

I like the way you think demonio.gif . But, unfortunately, the Overlord only receives the bonus threat when chest curses are resolved.

Curses from chests were a different type of Curse to that which was brought in with the expansion set. To avoid confusion, it might be easier to not call them cureses anymore and just label them as "Extra Threat"

Speaking of curses, why with RTL were curses completely nerfed! Now there is absolutely no risk to racing for a chest in mid-battle, cuz you know you're going to get gold, potions, or items. Sure you can play traps and all, but having the possible cursed chest was always nice for adding a few CT of risk to the guy that raced for the chest. A simple "blank on a separate power die" would have done fine for random curses to go w the random treasure. Even better would have been a new die with a 1, a 2, and four 0's.

So if you don a cursed item... say it's a sword. How often do you rack up a curse token? Technically, dont you "equip" items at the start of each turn, or do items previously equipped just stay equipped until you equip something else?

You get a new curse token every time you equip it from being unequipped. So only once, unless you de-equip it and then re-equipt it later.

After you die, if you choose to equip it, you place a curse token.

So basically, unless you are moving it from your pack to your hands a lot, you will only get 1 curse token.

Probably because RtL had to be compatible with JitD, and curses were from the expansions. There's still plenty of nastiness you can drop on the party, with even more if you have one or more of the expansions

Another curse question:

You wield a cursed weapon, take your curse token, and then die valiantly. So the OL gets his bonus CT. Woohoo! Now when you come back to life, is the curse weapon still equipped, or do you have to equip it again, and therefore take a curse token again? So if you want to keep using it even after death, you are always going to be worth one more CT?

...so it looks as if you do get a new curse token each time you die and get rid of the old one, if you persist in using the same cursed weapon.

You don't have a choice to re-equip after death. However, you 'can' if you foresee death, unequip a cursed item before you die. Then you can wait with equipping it.
