Standard epic game?

By dotswarlock, in X-Wing Epic Play

After going through the source material for epic, our community realized that there is not the equivalent of the classic 1 vs 1 deathmatch that we can find the usual 200 points tournament rules.

So what would be the equivalent for epic? Yet Another Squad Builder defaults at 500 points, but what about map size and asteroids? Do people just apply the V1 setup?

EDIT: it also occurs to me that this might be left for the community, so for those experimenting, what type of setup has felt "right" so far?

Scenarios seem to average 300-500 points per player. So 500 is a good baseline. They also seem to use the standard 6 objects for a 3x3 map. So again, that seems like a good baseline. 6 gas clouds/debris fields/asteroids per player for a 6x3 map might be a good idea, but I'm unsure on that. But basically, it comes down to what you and your opponent agree to.

1.0 Epic was 300 points per side on 6x3. This would have translated into 600 points, so "Full Epic" is slightly smaller in 2.0.

Nevertheless, 1,000 points of ships on 3x3 is going to be a traffic jam.

So, just for Epic "deathmatch" games I will continue to go with 6x3 play area, 12 obstacles, and 500 points per side.

500 points can be as few as 3 ships. Especially if you're fielding a Huge ship. Or as many as 21 ships. Yeah, fielding 21 tie fighters would feel cramped on a 3x3 map, but 3 to 6 ships wouldn't.
