Mandalorian - Spoilers inside, don't read until watched

I think the Mandalorian is quite a bit darker than the OT. Getting cut in half by a door or burned by our main characters flame thrower is pretty gnarly. So is getting body smashed into a speeder bike😂. It's a little dark and rough at times...and really great!

The worst of the OT is probably seeing the burning corpses of Lukes Aunt and Uncle. Getting a hand cut off is pretty tame really.

You have to look at who this stuff is done to, though. And how much attention is devoted to their reaction. Luke getting his hand cut off by his own dad is deeply traumatic to him, and he's the lead character. It also happens in full view of the camera, not off-screen, and quite a bit of time is devoted to the aftermath. That doesn't compare to a random guy we have no connection with getting bisected off-screen.

For what it's worth, common sense media dot com ranks Mando at ages 10+, A New Hope at 7+ and Empire Strikes Back at 8+, Rogue One at 11+. I feel like these are always a bit conservative but at least it gives a relative comparison. Again, not complaining, just noting.

I don't know who that is and why/how they rate things.

It's basically a site that rates movies/books/TV/games with kids in mind: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/about-us/our-mission

That's pretty evident from the name, but it doesn't tell me anything about what their biases and their goals in rating things as they do are.

I sent the thing to you. Read it.

No. I have no interest in reading some random website I didn't ask to read.

Well, then why would I bother to explain it to you? If you are interested in learning more about it, you can research it yourself.

...I didn't ask you to? Dunno what you are on about here.

Well you kind of did ask. Shrug.

He referenced them, you said you weren't familiar with them, so I sent you a link so could become familiar with them. If you cared to know about what biases and goals they may or may not have, you could read it.

You did mention that you didn't know who they were and why it was relevant.

No. Saying I don't know them isn't asking someone to do something for me.

K

I guess the Yoda baby thing could be strong in the force? So far, 100% of this species have been Jedi Masters right?

The only two members of this species we previously saw weren't just Jedi Masters, they were members of the Jedi High Council!

And then there was the (non-canon) guy from KOTOR who also made it to the Jedi high council. In fact, wasn't he a grand master?

Yes, one in which I made a statement. As opposed to asking a question.

Interlopers abound and people comment on comments. Welcome to the online world.

A statement that basically came down to who are they and what are they rating. So someone posted a link telling you who they are and how they rate. Getting bent out of shape because someone answered your implied question is kind of silly.

I'm not the one getting bent out of shape, considering your and the other person's investment in trying to create drama here.

That goes triple for me! I don't want a spy who trips over his feet every two steps!

Yeah, even being marketed for kids, this show is pretty dumb/disappointing. My kids (7 and 9 during season 1) really thought lots of Resistance was dumb and were generally, pleasantly surprised when there was a kinda cool episode! Rebels was the other way around (for them and me). Generally pretty cool with some dumb episodes and getting progressively better right up to season 4. After watching that we were really excited about Resistance, but with Kaz being super annoying and that Klatoonian? (forget his name and species... the alien best buddy of Kaz, who takes everything literally) being really annoying too, just not that excited to see new episodes... Kinda glad they are ending it at 2 seasons and hopeful they'll get back to Rebel's level quality. And I understand it is aimed at kids, but even my kids don't like it.

I really like that character. For me Resistance feels like what running an RPG for 10 to 13 year olds must be like.

It is (per my experience, at any rate) for both better and worse. :)

Clone Wars season 7 comes to Disney plus 2.17.20!
