Thinking about it = same argument could be made regarding how Darth Maul kept himself alive for several years before being rescued.

I agree with the rest of what you said, but I don't see how this contradicts what I said. He was clearly shown as enraged and especially in the case of Clovis, clearly tapping into Dark Side emotions. When he force-choked Poggle the Lesser, it was a little bit more gray since he was trying to save lives, but I'm pretty sure the intention was to show him dancing closer to the Dark Side, utilizing torture rather than looking for other options.**

I would maintain that it is a purely offensive move*, so while it can be linked to good emotions, the very nature of the power tends more towards dark. With something like the force-healing, it works either way and you can tap into either the Dark Side or the Light Side.

*Especially when directed against defenseless being such as Poggle the Lesser, who was unarmed, cuffed, and in a cell.
**Going the quick and easy route to power of tapping into the Dark Side.

Given the episode's overall theme of "nature vs nurture" (explicitly covered in the return of IG-11 montage), I think the idea is that the Yodaling is slipping to the dark side (kinda.. sorta..) because his protector/role model/parent is a man of violence.
I think we are heading for twin realizations of "I am not just protecting the child, I am raising him" and "what am I raising him to be?"

Slipping to the dark side might be an slight overstatement. Rather, it may just be a narrative point that such a powerful native force user could go either way and therefore needs nurture. The Mandalorian, effectively, has to step up and actively parent.

Or not....What could possibly go wrong ;)

If they go with that and have Mando move away from being a man of violence, they will have subverted the entire aim of the show. I don't want Mando to become "The Galaxy's Dad" and be sweet and loving; that would make me drop the show in an instant.

Who says he has to be the Galaxies dad. What if he just teaches Baby Yoda when violence is appropriate.

Human beings are complex and multidimensional. There have been a good many "men of violence" throughout human history who were stone-cold killers in battle yet kind and gentle with their wives, children, and kinfolk. Men are not psychological monoliths. We wear many hats as we go through life. It is quite possible for a man to be both a ruthless warrior and father of the year.

Agreed.

Pretty much. The pattern hasn't been either/or but rather thoughtful reflection and judicious application.

I just don't want Disney to do to him what they did to Eddie Murphy. It's taken a long time to start getting back to the EM that I loved in Beverly Hills Cop and The Golden Child.

I suspect he will continue to shoot people in the face.

Then I will continue to watch. 😎

I was hoping that this show would stick with the lone gunslinger wandering the backwaters of the galaxy theme. I don't mind occasional companions, but I really don't care for the kid at all, and I'll likely dislike him more if the show's theme continues to evolve to cater to him.

They could possible continue with it too, especial since Mando would be old and grey before The Child ever gets past toddler.

Very Lone Wolf and Cub, or even Nomad and Bucky for the Marvel fans.

I prefer Hawk and Chick

I'd say that the Child is already past "Toddler". Remember, The lief-span and age rate of Yoda's species is roughly ten times that of a human. Yoda was 900 years old when he died, and was physically equivalent to a 90 year old human. Yaddle was 400, and looked roughly equivalent to a 40 year old human. The Child is fifty. Divide fifty by ten and you get five. So, he should be roughly equivalent to a five year old human in terms of development. And, aside from vocabulary, his coordination, behavior, and the like bear this out as well.

Jawas stealing your hubcaps? Disintegration.

Losing in arm wrestling? No disintegration.

That's the kind of math that would give anyone with even cursory knowledge in child psychology an aneurysm.

It seems like a perfectly valid conclusion to me.

Moff Gideon has the Darksaber! More hints as to the fate of Mandalore...

Yup and now we have to wait for season 2 to find out more.

AND.....we have a name!

Scout troopers are jerks.

For years I thought an IG droid reprogrammed to be a medical droid would be a fun, ironic character. Curse you, Favreau! If I make that character now, I'll just be "stealing" the idea from this show. :(

I know how you feel. I GM a game in the Old Republic time period and one of the players had expressed interest in running and told me to design a character. I designed a Mandalorian (back in June) and of course he hasn't run it yet so now it will look like I'm just following what's popular.

'bout to watch number 8!

almost more excited than I was for tRoS... almost.

I do hope the next movie goes a little smaller scale though... like Rogue One and Solo. Little less of the entire Galaxy battling it out and a little more character development and small scale grand, mysterious adventure! (even though I did like tRoS!)

I thought about doing this with an Interrogation Droid after seeing the Dr. Ball skit on Robot Chicken.
