Major differences between Rey and Baby Yoda: We have no idea how he is so powerful, but what we do know is that every member of his species, Canon or Legends, that we've met has made it to the Jedi High council, indicating significant force potential. Humans obviously do not have the same advantages in that realm. As has been theorized here, Yoda's species might use it as a defense mechanism rather than as a learned skill. With Rey, all we know is that out of nowhere, a nobody with parents who were nobodies is more powerful in the force than the Chosen One, who had trained for almost 2 decades by the end of Revenge of the Sith. With Yoda's species we don't know enough to say whether or not it makes sense for him to be so powerful, though it's looking like it does.
Aside from in-universe, there is also the story telling angle, and Rey flunks that test too. There is no reason for her to be so much more powerful than the established characters, whereas with Baby Yoda there is something unique about him and his species, and we aren't totally sure of what that is yet. At this point, he is more of a plot device with some deus ex machina sprinkled on top, not so much a character.

You do know that this thing about bloodlines that are strong in the Force has only ever applied to the Skywalkers, right? Because Anakin broke the rules. Jedi aren't allowed to marry. Mace Windu does not come from the Windu line of Jedi. Obi-Wan Kenobi is probably the only Force-sensitive Kenobi, and so on.

Add to that that she is better at fixing the Falcon than Chewie.

You are aware that Chewie is constantly messing up when he is fixing the Falcon?

Yeah, but I'm not talking about bloodlines. Just the species. For example, the Miraluka were all force-sensitives, so it has precedent in lore, even if it is Legends (there are others to, but I believe the Miraluka are the most well-known).

?
I mean, I know the Falcon was cantankerous and stuff was constantly breaking down, but that seemed to be attributed to Han getting her into trouble, the Falcon being cantankerous, and not enough time to complete repairs, not to any incompetence on Chewie's part.

I see a lot of shoulds and coulds and assumptions based on personal preferences and ideas of the sw universe. Not any real points though. Also, I said “a girl” but there you go...

It's also clear that some folks can't take a joke, which is what I read your comment as being.

Sadly, your comment proved to be quite accurate given the knee-jerk reaction it got.

Ok, how many of those who've watched episode 7 counted/guestimated how many minion groups were outside of the cantina in that last scene?

Perhaps I'm just tired of being called sexist or having it insinuated that I am. I'd love nothing more than to just have a reasonable conversation about the pros and cons of the movies and other media, but that doesn't go very well when my character is called into question for disliking what, in my estimation, is a poorly written character.

No one was talking about you.

You were talking about people who dislike Rey and/or call her a Mary Sue. Even if you didn't address me specifically, I am someone who holds that opinion, therefore you were talking about me. Same as if I said "people who like TLJ are dumb" (which I wouldn't do, because they aren't. We just disagree on a movie) I wouldn't be specifically addressing you, but I would still be calling you dumb.

He is never ready when he should be, Han is constantly telling him off about what he needs to do, he doesn’t understand how to safely set tools next to a manhole, he doesn’t communicate with the ship regarding its hyperdrive, he puts c3po’s head on backwards... I’d say that nowhere in the series is Chewie established as even a decent mechanic. Rey however is and it is fleshed out a lot more in her backstory. Yet somehow you made that point...

Mm... I can see what you're saying.

(Also, I didn't make that point. That's never been one of my complaints)

Well she isn’t and if her constant failure in episode 8 didn’t tell you that then I am sure nothing in 9 will sway you.
Luke basically taught himself force pull and several other Jedi powers without training in them, no-one bat an eye.
But again I made a joke, and obviously so, if you want to take that super seriously then go ahead. I wasn’t talking about you but you can take it as personal as you want.

That sounds about right to me, 2 Death Troopers and 13 Stormtroopers. Let's hope the Covern is nearby to pull off an episode 3 "cavalry to the rescue" scene.

Gee, guilty conscience much?

The only one here painting that picture of you being that sort of individual is you, with your own words.

My words like "Cara Dune is one of my favorite Star Wars characters"? 🤨

I suspect it might be IG-11 + some of the guild + maybe some Mandalorians. Darn, is it the 27th yet?

It's gonna be a long 9 days...

I really liked Episode 7 (something I've never been able to say about Star Wars before) of the Mandalorian. I really think that Mando only shines (despite the finish on his armor) when surrounded by other interesting characters, which is why this episode felt much better to me than the last.

I loved the Imperial troop transport, but I do wish that the TIE didn't have that goofy landing sequence.

I differ with you somewhat on a couple of those points, but Mando is certainly much, much better when he's got someone to play off of. I absolutely loved seeing the live action ITT. That was probably my favorite thing to come out of Rebels (aside from Sabine and Mandos! :D). I thought the TIE's landing sequence was a bit goofy, and definitely not space efficient. Raises the question of whether that is how it normally operates (I know it doesn't operate that way of of Imperial vessels, the question is whether that's a built-in feature) or if that is a customized TIE/TIE variant. I'm not sure which I'd prefer.

It’s been pretty well established that most tie fighters land on their wing strut edges and this is the first time we’ve seen landing gear. Tie advanced v1 wings fold like that ones but there panels are curved.

Maybe this model is designed for landing on softer ground? It be easier to get out of being low to the ground they need ladders in hanger bay scenes.

It could also be that Moff Gideon is Extra and was like "give my ship some landing gear, I wanna be That Guy."

So it's this year's purple lightsaber?

Haha, sure, we can go with that.

I don't recall ever seeing a regular TIE land before, but have always wondered, if they could and/or how they did it.
