I think Mando has been pretty consistent with who he targets: the bar thugs attacked him, the Nikto were renowned for violence, the Jawas would've stranded him and had no intention of stopping, and so on. The prison break was neither sanctioned nor moral, so his only rationalization left was fighting things he doesn't believe to be alive.

Well, that was pretty much what the rest of the team was doing to him on the prison ship, yet he spared them. To me that's a sign of change, or depth. Either way, I like it.

Question really is, did he actually spare them? Perhaps he's being overly malicious and the brother is the one that got off light?

Possibly, but the republic seem a fairly humane bunch. If it was the empire I'd be more inclined to agree with you.

I really like that he doesn't escalate situation if possible.
The barfight in ep. 1 is just fisticuffs until the Quarren startes shooting. The blue bounty is treated well and is allowed to remain relatively comfortable aboard his ship until he gives the Mando reason to change that.
He didn't actually start the fight against the Nikto, he probably would just have Batmanned it and snuck in, leaving a bunch of unconscious Nikto here and there.
He does seem okay with just killing Imperials and people who are dismantling his ship.
Episode 7
At least some tie fighters have folding wings for landing.
Baby Yoda has mad crazy force powers he seems to intuitively use.
If he had been a girl people would be upset about that....
Oh wait... maybe it is a girl.

Well if the force is female maybe it doesn’t like other women.
In all fairness Rey isn’t really written as a character defined by their gender, just so happens the protagonist is a lady in the role instead of a dude in a role I feel is fairly interchangeable. You folks can say what you want, but pushing a toxic feminist agenda aren’t one of them. Take a look at captain marvel for that one.
I would prefer it if movie talk took place in the movie thread. I am personally waiting for my totally legitimate viewing of episode 7 on my American TV, watching American adverts and eating American food. I had to move to America to watch this show don’t cha know? XD
in the meantime I’m gonna binge Bob Ross.

Who’s talking about the movie I haven’t seen it yet. We were talking about Mandalorian episode 7, Yoda stew, he’s cute when he does his force powers.
Well I have seen the movie but episode 7 is still a mystery to me.
More Zabraks, yay! I'm always a fan of more of the alien species, especially when they manage to get the make-up just right.. And more of Nolte-naught, he hath spoken. While I liked last weeks episode I liked this one a whole lot more, here they were finally starting to tie together the narrative and bring it to a close, which I think shows just how much potential was in the whole thing that wasn't quite fully used. But I suspect this is the kind of show that works a lot better if you can binge it because then it ties together more neatly.

Ever try a VPN service? Some of them have servers all over the world, you don’t really need to move to the country to watch shows.

Oh, on that, agreed. I was thinking out loud on whether he's zig-tagged through the series.

I call foul. I still have 34 hours before the premiere
Sorry. It is the truth.
Oooooh, such a good episode!!! Curse having to wait 10 days!!
I bet IG-11 comes in with the save, and Mando starts to trust him.
Also, do you think if Cara and IG-11 survive Chapter 8, they become part of Mando's crew?
Mando, Baby Yoda, Cara, and IG-11 would be a great ensemble for Season 2.
I'm thinking that they will but it will require IG to nearly sacrifice himself while saving Baby Yoda to get Mando to overcome his distrust of droids. Even if that happens, I see a lot of tension in the crew for a while.
---
My prediction, and it won't be a well-liked turn of events, is that Chapter 8 ends with Giancarlo's character flying away with Baby Yoda in his tie fighter (impressive landing, btw) with Mando, Cara, and IG-11 standing over all the dead stormtroopers watching him take off. This will lead into season 2, The Hunt for the Child.
After this episode, Greef may join them in the hunt
This episode was great! I'm not sure if it's my favorite, I think 4 still holds that title by a small margin (very small), but Cara Dune is a great character. She is easily one of my favorite Star Wars characters now. (I really oughta assemble an actual list one day)

Major differences between Rey and Baby Yoda: We have no idea how he is so powerful, but what we do know is that every member of his species, Canon or Legends, that we've met has made it to the Jedi High council, indicating significant force potential. Humans obviously do not have the same advantages in that realm. As has been theorized here, Yoda's species might use it as a defense mechanism rather than as a learned skill. With Rey, all we know is that out of nowhere, a nobody with parents who were nobodies is more powerful in the force than the Chosen One, who had trained for almost 2 decades by the end of Revenge of the Sith. With Yoda's species we don't know enough to say whether or not it makes sense for him to be so powerful, though it's looking like it does.
Aside from in-universe, there is also the story telling angle, and Rey flunks that test too. There is no reason for her to be so much more powerful than the established characters, whereas with Baby Yoda there is something unique about him and his species, and we aren't totally sure of what that is yet. At this point, he is more of a plot device with some deus ex machina sprinkled on top, not so much a character.
I see a lot of shoulds and coulds and assumptions based on personal preferences and ideas of the sw universe. Not any real points though. Also, I said “a girl” but there you go...

This is what a best selling Author I am friends with says.
In the absence of explanation the watcher will fill things in. The Mistake with Rey is they told us she knew nothing about the force then had her besting trained force users after the Universe has established force use requires training for most things. So Rey being good at the force grates on people. Add to that that she is better at fixing the Falcon than Chewie.
