Mandalorian - Spoilers inside, don't read until watched

It was the same for me watching Rebels. To me it seemed like the writers of that show were watching a RPG session run by Pablo Hidalgo, taking notes, and then writing episodes based on what went on in the game.

Speaking of... there was this old fantasy anime that was actually built upon recordings/records of the directors RPG sessions... was kinda fun since basically anything could happen since the dice in the game session had decided it earlier.

Don't remember what it was called though...

The thing I probably like most about Rebels is how much of an RPG it really is. Basically as soon as I started in with AoR I realized that I'd been watching an RPG for a couple years and instantly started trying to spec out the characters.

I just watched again and I am almost sure the show will end up with the creation of the New Order. The ex Empire officer/Moff in first episode, the one with the ex Stormtroopers. When the Mando is about to leave the room, he says something about the Beskar belonging to Mandalorians, it seems useless but two times in a few seconds he says it is the "Order of things". Two times is a bit too much if it means nothing..

I wouldn't read too much into it. Fascist twits are always going on about the supposedly "natural order of things". I don't think Jon Favreau is interested in the slightest in doing an origin story for the First Order.

Except that in interviews, he’s specifically stated that the show will explore some of the origins of the First Order....

I wonder to what extent.

It can be argued that the show already has shown some of those origins by showing us Imperials still being around, hidden and scheming in the background, experimenting with the Force.

My edit to add the link must have saved as you were typing. Here’s another that I like better, but still using the same sources.

Most likely. It was based on a DnD campaign as I recall.

Thanks :)

I had similar thoughts, but they were on the lines of if he's a clone, when were the clones from Clone Wars created. We looked it up later, Sifo-Dyas went to Kamino in 42 BBY, and clone army started production in 41 BBY, 50 years before The Mandalorian starts.

This is interesting, and something I didn't notice:

Doctor Pershing – The Client is flanked by a strange man named Doctor Pershing. Omid Abtahi plays the character, introduced as a scientist, who has a clear interest in the bounty; he’s adamant that it be returned alive, though we don’t know why. Pershing has a curious badge on his shoulder, one that resembles the cloning trainees on Kamino wore in Attack of the Clones . Does Pershing want to clone the Yoda baby for some nefarious purpose, or is the Yoda baby a clone he wants to study? We’re very interested in this guy.

Oooo! DOCTOR PERSHING IS A CLONE TROOPER CONFIRMED!!!!

Very interesting, I wonder if it is just an homage, or if they are actually going to do something with it. At least in Legends, the Kaminoans were always very interested in cloning force sensitives, maybe they have some sort of deal with the Imperial.

That would explain the "Alive is preferable, but dead will also do" line, as they can clone from a dead body, but it is easier and more conducive to experimentation if they have a live specimen. Something else that is quite interesting is if Dr. Pershing is a clone (not clone trooper, just clone) and there are a whole bunch of him running around. Could get quite interesting, especially if this Dr. Pershing is a sleeper agent.

Then I have to wonder how much the (Moff? Governor? Grand Poobah?) actually knows, and is he a go-between, or the end client? It would be interesting if he were the go-between, trying to acquire it to then turn around and use it as leverage (whether as a carrot or a stick) against another party. Perhaps there is another group who is opposed to his interests, and is trying to eliminate the advantage the client hopes to gain by acquiring it. (we already know that someone wants the baby Yoda dead, this is just a proposal for why that might be the case)

Not a clone trooper. More likely a cloner

A) listen to the soundtrack when Mando meets with the imperial holdouts. They play the key 4 notes of the FO theme here and there (different key). Even if they don't go into it any further beyond "they still believe" it's a cool touch.

B) something I can't shake and have to ask: who played the blue fishy bounty in chapter 1? Can't find that character listed, and he emotes a lot like JonFav.

C) general appreciation, I like the grim parallels they drew between the egg and the Yoda baby: dead after delivery.

Watching this wonderful show has made me reconsider doing really hard concrete inventory. In Star Wars it seems like you have stuff mainly if story says you should have it. Trying to get people to use this without abusing it may be chancy, but I think I want to try it again.

I was joking.

That's literally one of the things that Destiny Points are there for, to cover the "oh yeah, I've had this useful item on my person all this time!" Within reason of course, with the rules even saying the GM has veto power if they think it's too unreasonable for the PC to have a certain item (especially one with a high Rarity value) in an unlikely circumstance, if only to avoid the "trusty Bat-Shark Repellent!" routine.

What about the "trusty Mando-Jawa Repellent Spray", though? totally a thing. :D

Spoiler episode 3.

Whistling birds rock. Looks like the planet of Mandalore was "shattered" by the Empire.

BEST EPISODE YET!

That ending! That Mandalorian lore! Paz Vizla!

Oh, man, Imperials AND the guild after him. No wonder he turns to former Rebels.

Absolutely incredible.

Loved it, especially the end of the fight!
