Mandalorian - Spoilers inside, don't read until watched

By Varlie, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Probably an ex Moff or Sector Officer that deserted with his own troops, that's the most probable scenario. He is maybe the seed of the futur New Order 😛

I loved it. Thought is was great. Just plain out entertained. The wife and I watched it, after I looked over and said, "see was it that hard to create something like that?" I see this has the potential to be the best thing Disney has done with Star Wars so far. Are people really gripping about too many aliens? Really? Geez. Watch the sequel trilogy then. Nothing will ever be perfect I guess.

Kind of annoying that the "flashback" was really just a bunch of short "flashes". I wanted to see more, but I guess that means they were successful. In the trailer it showed some kind of droid ship (I forget the name) in one of the flash back scenes and I don't think I saw that, so I guess we will get more flashbacks.

I guess the Yoda baby thing could be strong in the force? So far, 100% of this species have been Jedi Masters right? But I kinda wanted this show to not have a lot of force stuff... whatever. I loved it either way. Gonna watch it AND chapter 2 with my kids on the weekend... hey, with 8 episodes, at 40 minutes a pop, we get about 5 and a half hours of the show! That's like two full movies! I'm sorely tempted to pause in all my viewings and just binge them, post episode 9...

Oh, and this got me thinking about what was in the trailers that is yet to come!

1) AT-ST

2) some kind of village battle

3) Giancarlo...

4) Speeder bikes

5) weird rhino kind of creature

6) trandoshan brawl

7) space dog fight/chase

8)?? other stuff I forget?

=stoked

Yeah, but even 2 is a little bit low. 3 is a particularly good number for those sorts of things.

Oh, in rewatching I found that the joke is actually made 4(!) times.

I definitely need to rewatch.

Enjoyed it loads, but was distracted by GM head not shutting up wondering about the trackers being game breaking, lol.

It seems to have irritated you more than most. Most of my friends enjoyed the interaction.
Although we do have a droid character in the game that is particularly single-minded like that as well

Nah, I just found it funny that I had underestimated the repetition.

I will say that knowing my gaming group, if the droid did say "initiating self destruct" the others would say "Great, just give us time to take cover"

They are a very supportive group.

Seen it twice now, and I am afraid to say this but I liked it a lot less the second time around. I don’t know man... I was super excited for it but thus far the show is mediocre. Here’s hoping it will pick up with episode two.

Funny, because i felt exactly the contrary. I was a little disappointed after my firts watch, and really enjoyed the second one. Yes, there are some defaults (i find the alien quarry of the cantina very poorly designed for example), but overall, it answered to my wish of a more gritty view of starwars universe.

The best part about the droids joke was that it wasn’t joking.

Ok so baby yoda is force sensitive.

Haven’t seen ep 2 yet, but just saw that it is only 32 minutes long... hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Posting this to alert people who haven't seen episode 2 to stop reading. (Unfortunately a couple posts late)

Probably is. A number of streaming shows start off with a long episode, and then drop to the half-hour mark.

Was disappointed on the length of the episode but not on the episode itself.

My current game has an assassin droid, a jawa jedi, gotal thief, weequay jedi, and a human smuggler. The first two episodes have covered assassin (bounty) droid and jawa so fully expecting gotal or weequay character in the upcoming episodes

If the content is good, the length doesn't bother me so much. But, we might get longer episodes in 3 - 8.

Speaking of, that was awesome. Is it next Friday yet?

yeah, getting one on Tuesday and then Friday already spoiled us

Does raise the question of "if he can make it back on foot, why couldn't he go on foot?" I really liked it, though. It was fun to see some Jawas get their just desserts! :D

I loved the rifle and disintegration actually being shown, and the very Western type rifle loading. The aesthetics are so good, and the "I'm a Mandalorian. Weapons are part of my religion" line was great.

“Do you want Jawas? Because this is how we get Jawas!”

I am sold.
Episode 2 is so much better than Episode 1 was... The humor was better, the references weren’t so on the nose (except the Last Crusade one, but that’s okay), it had real stakes, cool fights, disintegrations and most of all... it had Jawas and, boy, do I love Jawas.
This episode was exactly what I needed.

I can't believe that baby yoda could lift that creature without any training. What a Mary Sue character!

:D

When he showed up and his ship was in full-on dismantled status, I was thinking, "man, that is a **** GM move! I'm totally using it!"

Leave your ship in the wilds with jawas around and this is what you get!

You know there are some serious setbacks if not outright upgrades to operating that ship now!
