Battle Meditation?

By TedW, in X-Wing

BM would be a fun tool to enable Torp jank, though I feel Non-Broadsides BTL-Bs are overcosted

New Squadron

(33) Red Squadron Bomber [BTL-B Y-wing]
(13) Proton Torpedoes
(3) Dorsal Turret
Points: 49

Points: 49

(44) Plo Koon [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(4) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(10) Battle Meditation
Points: 58

(42) 104th Battalion Pilot [ARC-170 Starfighter]
Points: 42

Total points: 198

Obi-Wan is a point over and that bites

Maybe just do Obi and replace the 104th with ICT Broadsides

It isn't the torps that are over-costed? I think there was a set of design dominoes that got knocked over with that increase.

But at the same time, proton torpedoes are the most useful of the various ones I've used. The damage is good, they can be fired multiple times before needing to reload, and they have good range. I've tried using advanced proton torps since they are much cheaper. But you only get one shot, and they are point blank only.

I've given up on the advanced pro torps as well. The stuff I'd put them on gets four dice at that range already.

Then there's the fact that if you're firing missiles at range 1... your ship is probably about to take a serious pounding without much of a chance to avoid it. :)

Ner

Two points over a rebel Y for a significantly worse dial (worst blues in the game; Lambdas have it better!), a situational as **** ability; +2 points

Two blues for plated hull is a points neutral trade at best

The dial is pretty bad. Plated Hull has been good to me, I've been glad it's there most games. The extra shield is often nice. That seems a fairy even trade off to me, generics should maybe price match Rebels.

I like them and, apart from Broadside, feel they might be a bit under utilised.

R4 tax is a thing. If you bring it, the Rep Y is straight up worth it. But it's often an easy 2pt to cut. Feels like it should be 3, with most pilots dropping to match.

So I put the 4x Dedicated BSP Torrent (I only have four) and Sinker in a squad-builder and it comes up 170 points. That is most certainly an awkward total. The only thing that fits is a fifth. I think it is also a bit of getting that fifth torrent that makes it hard to field

Sure, it's not an easy list to field, but that doesn't mean it's not a valid list. I am sure you could borrow a torrent from a friend if you want to actually run it. Like I said, though, a blue protector isn't real cheap so it's not a common list and it's not easy to tweak the contents

Nope. I'm the only one with Republic stuff. Not that interested in running that anyway. Had a new idea. I'll see how it works tonight.
