If you mini- maxing and playing a tournament then maybe not but I play him for the sheer fun of Vader being a badass
I found opponents tend to shy away from him or commit way to much resources to taking him out. He can have a huge impact just by his presence. Lots of fun. I think as more transport options become available, his lack of mobility could be negated.
Is Vader still a poor choice
A short move with free attack is not as immobile as it gets made out to be. As someone who only takes snowtroopers I can attest to the speed of short move and free attack. Compared to other troops it's only slower than a double medium move. In all other cases it's faster.
His operative version is definitely amazing. I've proxied it a few times now and he has always made his points back and then some. The command cards are pretty amazing. The one time I even tried him with veers and an ATST and Vader and the ATST each locked down a side of the field. Maybe not super competitive but it worked and threw my opponent off. Vader does good work and especially with spur he is worth it (though I recommend running him with endurance).
After 6 rounds (4 swiss) a Vader list won the spanish national championship. People need to play more Vader.

I agree. A few people use him including Brad (nerfley) to great success. People don't like to try things that seem hard
all it takes are the right lists and a style you enjoy. Most people may not like vader because he plays slow while many other commanders (like veers) play fast, and that is a-ok.
Medic + RG + evade token makes Vader immortal, place him in the middle of the board and control the terminal or the terrain objective, then you only need to control half board to get the other objective. Vader is not easy to play, but it is nice as it is.

Unfortunately those 3 units will take about 1/2 of your points, if that premise is even correct.
Half points to own the middle of the table give you half points to fight for one side. Not bad.
Vader has never been a poor choice:
I have now taken him to 8 events since March, and in 6 of those Vader has been undefeated - with total win ratio of 24-3.
He has worked with a tank, without a tank, supported by boba, bossk, speeder bikes, with and without IG and medics... and the only ever-present upgrade has been force push (never leave Vader without it).
In summary - Vader is amazing, and the fact he has got a little cheaper and gets some cool new cards is just amazing!!
Oh... in case I wasn’t clear.... I
💕
Vader!

As I've always said about competition clone lists, just remember they will give priority to what's easy vs what's best if there 2 competing choices in a tournament list so they don't burn out mentally on the day.

And he saves you $15 besides. And a colorblind philistine can paint him nicely in 10 minutes if they prime him before assembly.
After seeing Dooku play and just knowing that OP Luke can wreck units and now has 2 of the best 1 pip command cards i'm even more convinced that Vader is very mediocre, which saddens me because i want to play Vader but as usual FFG just didn't treat him fairly
Dooku's lack of charge or relentless is a pretty big downside. Even commander Vader has a longer melee threat range than dooku

His built-in ranged attack and having Relentless on a command card do help make up for it a bit. You definitely have to play him differently than any other melee commander.

True. Ive been having a lot of fun with Dooku, but I think with Vaders point drop and his new cards he can compete with the other sith lords just fine.
