So the Interdictor...

By DakkaDakka12, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So a friend of mine is frustrated with the interdictor and thinks it and the raider are total trash.

I want to surprise him with a list with no ISD, and at most 1 VSD( but I would prefer no VSD to prove my point that Imperials are more than ISD and VSD)

Fyi I am a Rebel player and we are both very much new to armada, but I have watched a lot and I think I have a firm grasp of controlling range as I play Hammerheads often with Rebels.

With that all in mind here is what I came up with, please bear in mind a bid of 10/11 points is very reliable and I am not willing to bid more than 15 as it would be wasted points against him.

Name: Untitled Fleet
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Motti

Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:

Interdictor Suppression Refit (90)
• Taskmaster Grint (5)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• G7-X Grav Well Projector (2)
• G-8 Experimental Projector (8)
• High-Capacity Ion Turbines (8)
• Interdictor (3)
= 122 Points

Gladiator I (56)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Demolisher (10)
= 80 Points

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
• Admiral Motti (24)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
• Hand of Justice (4)
= 88 Points

Raider II (48)
• Iden Versio (6)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• High-Capacity Ion Turbines (8)
• Corvus (2)
= 67 Points

Squadrons:
• 2 x VT-49 Decimator (44)
= 44 Points

Total Points: 401

I realize I need to shave 11-16 points and part of this post is to figure that out.

-I tried building the Interdictor to be a immovable object that will travel toward my opponent's fleet/toward the objective and with it's 8 engineering points if I do an engineer action?(5 + 3 from token because of grint?) repairing 4 shields should make it shrug off anything shy of concentration from my opponent's entire fleet(and even then it should last 2 turns of focus I think?)

-The Raider's re-position combined with the grav well projector should mess with my opponent and allow me a little of counter play, also I think this raider build should be fairly tanky? 4(5) hull with 2 evades that negate dice at close and long and a brace.

-Motti should be safe because that is my only ship that stays at long range thus a lot of other threats for my opponent to focus on, in addition the title should help any allied ships in range?

-Demolisher

-2 Decimators for anti fighter and to threaten any corvettes in range?

I am sure I am making a TON of colossal mistakes, but I really do hope to surprise my friend with using "useless" ships to good effect.

The Interdictor is not trash, but you have to follow a plan that he can support. That counts also for the raider ...

That was my (successfull) attemp with an Interdictor and also with Konstantine. Just stay close to your BTA to support him with your scramblers (they work also against bombers ...) and lock down enemys with your projector (and Konstantine ofc). You can also lock down an SSD with this two cards because they have no size restriction like the tractor beams. The Demo can go for a hunt or you can exchange them against a Raider + some Squadrons. The opponent has to spam nav commands all the time ...

+ Interdictor (3)
Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (110 + 25: 135)
+ Strategic Adviser (4)

+ Avenger (5)
Gladiator II-class Star Destroyer (62 + 27: 89)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Engine Techs (8)
+ Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
+ Demolisher (10)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 4: 27)
+ Admiral Titus (2)
+ Comms Net (2)
Most Wanted
Hyperspace Migration
Contested Outpost

This is a phenomenal Interdictor build:

Interdictor-class Suppression Refit (90 points)
- Interdictor ( 3 points)
- Captain Brunson ( 5 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- Disposable Capacitors ( 3 points)
- Heavy Ion Emplacements ( 9 points)
- Targeting Scrambler ( 5 points)
- Grav Shift Reroute ( 2 points)

As for the Raider, go with Heavy Ion Emplacements over the High Cap Turbines or drop it to a Raider I with Corvus, Iden, OE, and ExRacks.

Screed loves the Dictor and the Raider, but Motti is OK if you must. Thrawn is another very decent choice.

Lastly, don’t bring the Decimators. They are Heavy and need Intel to escape scatter aces. Do Ciena and Valen if you want a token squadron coverage.

@DakkaDakka12 , this is what I recommend to showcase the Dictor and Raider:

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 385/400

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Rift Ambush
Navigation Objective: Doomed Station

[ flagship ] Interdictor-class Suppression Refit (90 points)
- Admiral Screed ( 26 points)
- Interdictor ( 3 points)
- Captain Brunson ( 5 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- Disposable Capacitors ( 3 points)
- Heavy Ion Emplacements ( 9 points)
- Targeting Scrambler ( 5 points)
- Grav Shift Reroute ( 2 points)
= 151 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 25 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 25 total ship cost

Raider II-Class Corvette (48 points)
- Corvus ( 2 points)
- Iden Versio ( 6 points)
- Disposable Capacitors ( 3 points)
- Heavy Ion Emplacements ( 9 points)
= 68 total ship cost

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (56 points)
- Demolisher ( 10 points)
- Skilled First Officer ( 1 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- Assault Concussion Missiles ( 7 points)
= 86 total ship cost

1 Ciena Ree ( 17 points)
1 Valen Rudor ( 13 points)
= 30 total squadron cost

I’m not dead set on the objectives, but they’re all quite strong in their own ways. If you want to beef Demo up with Tua/ECM, you could and still have a 7 point bid.

Can change the Objectives and drop the Squads to add in another Gozanti if you like. But this is what I have been playing around with

I'm messing around with interdictors too.

This is what I'm trying out tomorrow its really all about objectives, punishing the enemy, and trying to control the enemy commands.

Oh wow, I guess the interdictor is loved by all.

all the great ideas have brought me toward the following, a list I am leaning toward because the extra activation may allow me to bait out enemy ships.

I was really tempted to follow you all with Brunson on the interdictor considering the 2 gozanti's will provide tokens here and there, but I am also not certain about an upgrade that requires staying in range.

With the squadrons I have I hope they seem annoyingly durable to the rest of you as they do to me.

I highly recommend Targeting Scrambler. G-8 is mediocre when you have Konstantine and Phylons to support it; it is, to be frank, bad on its own. Unlike defense tokens, Scrambler can’t be blocked and combos well with 8 engineering.

If you really want the interdictor and raider to shine as a team, challenge him to a Take the Station scenario and try this:

[ flagship ] Interdictor-class Suppression Refit (90 points)
- X-Custom Commander ( 0 points)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
- Grav Shift Reroute ( 2 points)
- G7-X Grav Well Projector ( 2 points)
= 99 total ship cost

Raider I-Class Corvette (44 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 51 total ship cost

Nose!

Punch!

Try Brunson - she is amazing imo. Effectively an unstoppable evade at any range. You'll be surprised how easy it is to stay in range of obstacles for her ability to proc, it's probably harder to be outside it tbh!

She basically gets stapled to Interdictors, SSDs and ISDs (especially Devastator) for me.
