Except, again, he was a fleet commander. Yes, he looks cool, but there are so many commanders in charge of actual ground troops choose from.

Actually, Trench commanded ground forces in the battles for Ringo Vale (Granted, it was an orbital shipyard) and Anaxes. In season six during the Order 66 arc and the final season during the Bad Batch arc respectively. Though he was in a space ship during the latter episode, but still.

Palpatine in the game is a dumb decision, but why must that be compounded by adding in another character that doesn't make sense?

If we reach peak levels of dumb decision making and nonsensical units, it'll all balance out, right?

Stupid dumb company that's been a leader in their field for over 30 years...

Problem was they were a near monopoly for most if that. They have routinely had very rude and manipulative staff and representatives in my experience (dealing with hobby stores). I don't particularly like them or most of their practices.

But they do have their fans, despite doing things that completely alienate some members of their “community”.

Things that would make no sense in a real world army are kind of ok in star wars. Vader has frequently committed to engagements with small strike forces as did Krennic. The Emperor seldom exposed himself directly, but clone wars showed that while he probably shouldn't get his hands dirty directly, he really enjoyed doing it. For the rebels, they sent generals on missions all the time. Ii guess if you can't pay the troops much, you hand general ranks to every Han, **** and Lando you can find.

Republic and separatists were the same, Ventriss, Skywalker, Kenobi, and Grievous frequently fought along side smaller deployments. Even Dooku on occasion. Nearly every commander r in Star Wars is a "lead from the front" type at some point, and was seen in the company of small deployments. So the emperor with just a few squads of troopers is not out of character, even if it is uncommon. Now the emperor taking this small detachment to sabotage some moisture vaporators, that is a little harder to explain.

I wouldn't tie myself in knots over the precise logic of it. It's just a bit of fun. For me collecting and painting iconic characters and units are the main draw, the game is secondary.

Desired units would be Saw Gererra, Kallus (either faction), Riekan and Nien Nunb

I play empire, so for me top two would be:

1. IG-88 (Operative) - Mandalorian showed us how awesome an IG unit is in action and it would allow empire players to run the "No Disintegrations!" list of boba, bossk and IG, as unwise as that might be

2. Moff Gideon (Commander) - Another Mandalorian character, But considering what he is armed with in the finale and his personality he would be an awesome commander.
