Top 4 desired Commanders/Operatives for each Faction

Pretty self-explanatory! Just wondering what yours are! Here are mine:

Empire

1. Thrawn (Commander, obviously. Looking for powerful command cards and a weaker version of pulling the strings. Something like Give Orders: Choose 1 unit at Range 1-2 to perform a Move (not action) or gain 1 Aim, Dodge, or Surge)

2. Grand Inquisitor (thinking Operative, could be a toned down version of Luke with Jedi Hunter)

3. Doctor Aphra (Operative, with the bots as counterparts)

4. Agent Kallus (could be similar to Captain Rex, but as an operative. Empire could use a cheap, 90ish point Operative)

Rebels

1. Lando (could be Operative or Commander)

2. General Riekan (nice, cheap commander, like 80 points, especially if Leia ever gets a price hike (which she needs))

3. General Syndulla (commander)

4. Kanan Jarrus (Operative) would be nice to have access to a cheaper, Operative version of Luke with some tweaks to his abilities

CIS

1. Asajj Ventress (Operative, would be nice to have a new keyword, similar to Teamwork but called Apprentice: Dooku, when Dooku gains an Aim or Dodge at Range 1-2, you do as well)

2. Cad Bane (Operative, probably around 120 points)

3. Jango Fett (Operative, would be higher in list, but I don't see him too different from Boba, so no rush to get him)

4. Darth Maul (Operative, probably around 175)

GAR

1. Anakin (Commander)

2. Padme (commander in her episode II Leia-like garb. Would be cool to have Teamwork: Anakin)

3. Mace Windu (commander, cool purple saber, and his 1-pip would have to be "This party's over!"

4. Asoka (Operative, could have the Apprentice: Anakin keyword)

Anyways, just dreaming of more choices. What are yours?

This CIS list is a dream. Yes please! Cad Bane > Jango, but I'd love to paint Jango too.

These creatures could be neutral monsters on the map, having tables to act (i.e. roll a black attack die; on a hit, it attacks an enemy unit at R1; on a crit, it attacks the closest enemy; on a surge, it does a speed-2 towards the closest objective; on a blank, it does Dodge and Standby actions) and/or used for PvE scenarios (players bring characters and have to join forces against monsters, arena-style)

Rules for the Rancor have already been made :P

For the glory of the Empire:

1. Dr Aphra

2. Triple 0 and BT-1

3. Inquisitorius (any would do between Grand Inquisitor, Second Sister, Fifth Brother, Seventh Sister, Ninth Sister)

4. IG-88 (but Dengar, 4-Lom and Zuckuss would do too, I just think that IG would bring something a little bit more different than what we already have)

Bonus. Black Krrsantan (Because the Empire can have wookie too!)

Edit to add second Bonus: Task Force 99 could be nice too!

After playing Jedi Fallen Order, I've decided to update my list for the Empire:

1. Second Sister

2. Ninth Sister

3. Second Sister

4. Second Sister

1. Cassian

2. Cassian

3. Cassian

4. Admiral Akbar

Rebels
-Hera/ Chopper
-Cassian/ K2
-Ashoka
-Old bi wan

Empire:
- Ig-88
-Thrawn
- Sergeant Kreel/ Generic storm trooper commander
-bt-1/Aphra, 000

Republic:
-Generic Jedi for both slots
-Kit fisto
-generic clone commander
-boss nass

CIS
-tactical droid commander
-Poggle the lesser
-Maul
-vader

I sort of have a feeling that Empire will be getting a crap ton of force users in the next year. Will be interesting to see if FFG starts doing unique special forces or supports since Inquisitors are all unique.

...................... Also I wonder if Vader/the Senate will be able to heal by killing them. 6 inquisitors have died to the dark side , and the Grand Inquisitor pretty much kills himself for fear of failure............ so 6 and a half?

I would love to see him in the game as well, but so far I think they have avoided any fleet officer so far. Same for political leaders like Mon Mothma. Will be interesting going forward to see how they deal with those two areas.

Rebels:

  1. Hera Syndulla
  2. Hondo
  3. Lando
  4. K-2SO

Empire

  1. Iden Verso and the Inferno Squad!!!!
  2. Thrawn
  3. Inquisitors (any of them)
  4. Tarken - Only him and Leah ever really stood up to Vader

I don't know where they go but:

  1. Deathwatch - I dunno, I just want them in the game.

Most of the commanders make zero logical sense beyond popularity for sales. Ackbar is fine.

Rebels:

-Lando

-Saw

-General Dodonna

-the Ghost crew

Imperial:

-The Grand Inquisitor

-Garindan

-Gar Saxon

-Tarkin

GAR and CIS:

-no real preferences

Ackbar makes zero sense.. I mean lets just throw out the airlock that he is primarily a fleet commander.. oh wait, that was him out the airlock. Whoops.

Sense in commanders left with Palpatine. And (research facility) director Krennic.

Though for me, all big movie heroes are beyond the line.

Well krennic at least did seem to have a go get em attitude. He was rushing around pointung guns at people. Palpatine on the other hand...

Speaking as a CIS player:

Operative Cad Bane or Jango fett. Interchangeable (IMO) as they are both maneuverable gun slingers.

Kalani: need a cheap commander that emphasizes faction play style.

Tactical Droid: another generic/ cheap Commander or officer add-on. If they wanted to go crazy, they could do a 2-4 model box with components and unique command cards for each named tactical droid that appeared in the series.

Operative General Grevious, with entourage: Magnaguard. Gets more mileage out of that sprue, plus you get a beefy operative.

I think that when Magna guards come out they should come with a command slot upgrade that grants any CIS commander Entourage: Magna guards.

We see multiple CIS commanders accompanied by them in the Clone Wars series.

While I think that sounds super cool (faction-specific command upgrades!), I kinda doubt that CIS will ever get anything with Entourage, as they already have more order-manipulation shenanigans than any other faction. Also, since Magnaguards are seen with several different commanders, that doesn't really feel like Entourage to me. Imperial Royal Guard are really only seen with Palpatine, and Death Troopers are Krennic's personal guard, so that's why they get Entourage.

Clones need a cheap core unit.

Gungans fit perfectly here, and with gungans there should be a very interesting commander with great mechanics named Jar Jar Binks.

At least there is one example in the Rebellion Era where palpatine and Vader were crashed on Ryloth - give me Cham Syndulla and some Twi’leks and I can reenact that book. I do agree, that certain characters are not really fitting. It is why I didn't buy palps, and why I love my Generic officer, - commander Generica

Krennic and Veers are also (from a modelling perspective) as good as a generic. That could be anybody in that uniform, write your own backstory, re-name them, paint them different, etc. Vader and the Emperor don't work as well for that kind of suspension of misbelief.

That's not the emperor! That's Pruneface's evil cousin Sun-Dried-Tomatoface in a bathrobe!

Trench would be so cool for CIS!

Except, again, he was a fleet commander. Yes, he looks cool, but there are so many commanders in charge of actual ground troops choose from.

The only faction I really care about is CIS. My four for them are (This also excludes shoe ins like Ventress, or Generic Tactical Droids):
1. Poggle the Lesser
2. General Riff Tamson (Dont know how he'd work on land though, but he's still be awesome!)
3. General Kalani
4. Generic Organic Separatist Commander (Could be Nemoidian, Human, or any other Seppy species)

I think people just get caught up in how "cool" having interlocking rules are and don't really think about the rule involved and the implications thereof.

You mean like Emperor Palpatine?

Palpatine in the game is a dumb decision, but why must that be compounded by adding in another character that doesn't make sense?
