Hello, I've recently gotten interested in Armada and will be playing my first two games with borrowed models next week, but I'm trying to plan a bit ahead and figure out what to get as my first few purchases (besides the core set) and was hoping you more knowledgeable veterans could help me out.
I'm looking for a fleet made from some of the ships I would like to paint and use and would like to know if any of them could be used in a list that can at least be a bit competitive.
I really like the Assault frigate Mk.II but also like the MC75, Pelta and B-wings...can a decent list be build from these models?
I don't really have a playstyle preference yet as I haven't played this type of game before (mostly been playing games like Warmachine).
Hope you can help me out
Looking for advice for first rebel fleet.
Do you like strategic or aggressive play style? And cr90 fit in any list
Edited by TheRedScourge
Well I don't really know yet as I haven't played any games and not really keen on the cr90.
In other games I tend to prefer more elite, low model count armies, not really a fan of swarms.

AFIIA, RBDs, QBTs, Ordnance Experts, Paragon, Skilled First Officer 102
GR75-Combat Refit 24
Tycho, Shara, Jan, 2 X-Wing, Gold, Han Solo 116
Cr90 with turbolaser reroute circuits are just good a small jabs guaranteed two damage.
For rebels your ship selection is build around your Admiral. Some want to stay at range and just weather you down Akbar/Leia but on the other hand Raddus/Rieekan want to get in the fight and are normally have no problem trading ship for ships

Might I introduce the SSD? You can't get more quality over quantity than that one.
Joking aside, are you looking for something with or without starfighters?
Wouldn't mind a few, just not a massive swarm.
I do like the B-wings though.
When I started playing Armada it took me a few games to get a feel for how I liked to play and what worked for me. I think you should hang on until you've had a go at the game and seen how everything works before you pick a fleet up.
Then buy at least three of everything.

Hehe buying three of everything won't be possible for the foreseeable future, just joined a band and it's not cheap so don't have a lot to spend on Armada, which is why I want to make some good starting purchases ^^
B Wings come in the Fighter 1 pack which also gives you A Wings and Y Wings. Don't discount YWings. They are the B Wing's less fashionable fat younger brother but they're faster, tougher and much cheaper.

Scurrg H-6 Bombers are pricey pieces of absolute destruction, but I don't advise them if your not planning on going squad heavy.
They are basically a Y-Wing and B-Wing mashed together and Grit added for spice.
Thank you all for all the advice, been a great help.
Also been reading a bit elsewhere and tried to build a list based on not having a too big initial investment and getting the most out of as few packs as I can and came up with the following list.
Now I know it's not super competitive or anything, but I'm hoping it's good enough to get me used to using squadrons and ships of different sizes.
Name: Untitled Fleet
Faction: Rebel
Commander: General Dodonna
Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:
MC75 Armored Cruiser (104)
• General Dodonna (20)
• Caitken and Shollan (6)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Enhanced Armament (10)

CR90 Corvette B (39)
• Leia Organa (3)
= 42 Points
Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57)
= 57 Points
Assault Frigate Mk2 A (81)
• Gunnery Team (7)

Not a bad list at all neb seems alittle out of place everything is side shoot and it’s forwards but two transport and beefing up squads might be something to keep in mind. Then again if you can key the squad commands right or Leia in range of bigger ships could prove more effective

Yeah true, but it's honestly there to use as much from the core set that I can and to minimize how many expansions I have to buy from the start
Ended up buying quite a bit for X-wing before I had any games in it and found out I didn't like it and don't want to repeat that mistake ^^
But do think I might want to move a bit more towards squadrons in the future, I'm liking the Scurrg as well as the B-wings and was wondering if doing an MC75 with rapid launch bays or some such might be a thing to do.

I love RLB on the MC75 Ordnance Cruiser with Profundity dropping out a RLB, BCC Transport in a Raddus list. Basically dropping 4 B-Wings out point blank to soften the target before the MC75 tears it to pieces. More pricey to build compared to carrying a Hammerhead on board, but omg so much fun.
MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100)
• Ordnance Experts (4)

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
• Rapid Launch Bays (6)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 41 Points
Squadrons:
• 4 x B-wing Squadron (56)
= 56 Points
Total Points: 229
This is what I like dropping in a Raddus list.

If you get into the heavy squadron play, this is my go to hard hitting combo. Add other stuff to suit you, I generally have Jan Ors, Biggs Darklighter and a pair of X-Wing Squadrons to Escort. Best part about rebel bomb lists is that their escorts are also bombers, which means when you play against low or no squad list, you just get more punch against ships.
Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57)
• Flight Commander (3)
• Yavaris (5)
= 65 Points
GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 35 Points
Squadrons:
• Nym (21)
• 3 x Scurrg H-6 Bomber (48)
= 69 Points
Total Points: 169
Hmm now that looks interesting!
What do you use as your flagship for Raddus?

Usually just fill list with TRC-90s
So what about MC30s? (sorry for jumping all over the place, keep discovering new things as I read and watch videos).
I kinda like how they look but dunno if you could build something reasonable with them and the MC75.
Came up with this:

Edited by CryxxLooks great. But you'll appreciate using one of the MC30 titles - Admonition or Foresight. They're both great, but Admonition is acknowledged as one of the best titles in the game. You've got the points, so throw it on one of the MC30's and go have fun!
