As the title says!
So we can have Tusken or Monsters like Akklays oder Rancors.
Will there be a scum faction in Legion?
Sure.
A definite maybe
This comes up pretty often.
I think we're more likely to get an imperial scummy looking corps squad (and maybe more commanders for both) so both factions can field a custom scum army. Right now only rebels can.
I would be shocked if they did not do a Scum faction. I would say it would be more of a question of when.
1. Do they do Resistance/FO first or Scum first? FO got a lot of units and can probable fill out an entire army, but Resistance almost has nothing besides a crap ton of heroes and the air speeder. Scum got soooo many options and it would be a war crime if they do not try their hand at a rancor or nightsister zombies.
2. Should Scum be cross faction? A lot of heroes get used a lot and they even hinted at Hondo being used in all 4 (somewhat as a joke so yaa). R2/3p0 is usable by two factions, but I would guess they go with X-wing and just two different vresions of Boba, Bossk, and Ventress.
I'd be more interested in a Mandalorian, Night Sisters or Chiss faction. Sadly, that probably will never come.
Back to subject at hand: Scum faction seems like the next logical step. Most likely, we'll get First Order and Resistance faction first.

As entire factions, I agree. That said, I think a scum faction could include Mandalorians, the CIS could get a Nightsister unit, and that Thrawn will eventually show up for Imperials.

1. Scum should come before sequel trilogy. As you noted, resistance has basically nothing for this game format. The unit diversity would be really poor. Also, I feel that there’s a larger market for the scum of the GCW era than the sequel factions (anecdotal, please don’t turn this into a debate if you disagree).
2. I think that Scum would be it’s own faction and not mixed with others. That said.... I do think Hondo as an operative works cross faction as a universal operative because of his unique status of having worked with just about anyone. I would not make this widespread practice for the faction as a whole. Additionally, I think down the line a Hondo commander is appropriate for scum only.
Now, to prevent xwing level nonsense with very different factions all working together (the catch all faction), I think ffg can and should leverage the subfaction idea they hinted at.
Subfactions for Scum: crimson dawn, black sun, hutt cartels (to start, can always add more).
Special rule for scum: you may only build your army using one subfaction.
that way, the generic old basic alien grunt corps units (hired guns) can be the basis of any scum army, but truly iconic characters such as Maul, Jabba, Xizor, and so forth can only work in thematic ways rather than letting different organizations cooperate in non thematic ways.
The way I would like to see a Scum faction work is to have the main Scum faction with a corps or two of generic scum soldiers and then have a ton of Sub factions to cover all of the different possibilities like the Hutts, Crimson Dawn/ Shadow collective, Mandalorians, etc.
On thing I like with Scum being the next faction is, by the time they get around to it, they'll have a fair amount of units that could be ported over, kind of like what they did with Xwing 1e. Boba Fett, Bossk, Ventress, and Maul will likely all be out by the time Scum hits the shelves. Death watch may also be out. Creating a conversion kit for the lot of them, possibly as commanders (makes sense in a Scum army) with new command cards (which would be interchangeable with their old ones, like Luke/Vader) would be an awesome opportunity to get Scum off the ground quickly. I have a friend who begrudgingly got into the game with Empire, but is drooling to have Scum.
I predict in about 5-9 years after FFG does sequel factions, and old republic factions, then they’ll add a Scum faction. If they still have a contract by then.
1: Yes. Eventually.
2: Its starting to feel like groundhog day in here.

Dam I hope so. Does that mean I’ll be an expert Legion player when Groundhogs day is over? I will have flipped enough tables at least.🤪
Edited by JediPartisanMy thoughts is they will come as both a separate fact and as additional units that can be used by all factions.
For me, the fraction makes no difference, I only want the beautyfull minis! ; P
An some minis makes only sense in a separat scumfraction I think.
Scum can wait until after they finally get around to a Probe Droid unit for the Empire.
I think there's enough material to do scum with sub factions, but feel the FO/Resistance will come first
Edited by Canuck7I think that they could do a scum faction, but i'm not sure if they will. Legion is supposed to represent large(ish) scale battles, and I don't think that scum would fit in a big battle very well. Though, we do have the Shadow collective and a few other examples of when scum factions did fight in large scale battles. Thematically I don't know if it will fit.
Economically, it probably will. FFG may do a scum faction simply to make more cash, or it might make one to fulfill the needs of the fans(and make some more $$$).
Either way, I would like to see a scum faction in the game. It'd be fun, and i'd get to play with some extra Mandalorians. And personally, I think after they flesh out the CIS and the GAR more, they'll add it before they add Resistance/First Order.

Yea I have a hard time believing that we won't see a scum faction eventually. There are just so many characters to draw on that they can't possibly all fit into the Imperial faction.
The battles in Legion are not anywhere close to what would be considered large in any period of history. They are barely even a skirmish. Even early middle ages Viking raids would make legion battles look like barroom brawls. Also, if you don't think that a criminal organization can stand toe to toe with an organized military force, look at what is going on in Mexico right now.
There were probably 800 points of rebels at Jabba's sail barge, and way more alien thugs/size of battlefield, than would fit on a Legion board. There's no good reason not to include them as a way to sell more toys to grown ups.
Though you can now make your own using a rebel commander, 3x alien troopers, a landspeeder, and Sabine.
Edited by TauntaunScoutIf Legion were a 15mm(1/100) scale game with around 100 infantry on a side (grouped into stands of 4) I'd agree that scum probably didn't belong due to the scope of the battles.
But it isn't that kind of game. It's 1/47 scale, with 25-50 (50 being a "horde" army of B1s) infantry on a side, easily the size of a pirate raiding force or crime faction stronghold. Criminal factions take control of whole planets, sometimes by force of arms. Hondo's pirate band canonically has tanks and easily enough troops for a Legion force. Jabba also has easily "800 points" worth of gangsters and bounty hunters, as does the Shadow Collective.
and the Hutts control an entire sector of space, not just one planet. One could argue that they could easily be more powerful than the Rebel Alliance when it comes to ground combat.
There's way more to draw from in scum and mercenaries than there will ever be in FO and Resistance. I would say that as a whole the idea of a scum faction is more embedded in the fabric of the star Wars universe than anything the new movies have shown up to this point. That's just one reason they're making a Mandalorian show and not a Finn and Rey show

Unfortunately they are making a Finn and Rey show. It's called the Rise of Skywalker, and it's the third part of a mini-series. It's being exclusively released on one platform for a few months, but then it should be available to stream.

TV show. I'm just saying the new movie sequels are a sliver of the universe at this point. Mercs and Scum own much more clout as a whole and have way more depth in the SW Universe as a whole than the new movies
