Jam Force

By Ryuneke, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Lone Starr already showed us how powerful jam can be.

So I decided to built a squad around C1-10P.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (47)
Sense (5)
R2 Astromech (6)
Delta-7B (19)

Mace Windu (45)
Heigthened Perception (3)
R2 Astromech (6)
Delta-7B (18)

Plo Koon (44)
Foresight (4)
C1-10P (7)
Total: 200

Obis and Maces job is to deal lots of damage. Both Jedi are flying the 7B for extra punch and extra shields. I am not taking Anakin because I think he's overrated for his pricepoint (especially if you compare him with Obi-Wan).

The centerpiece of this list is Plo with C1-10P. Plo burns both charges of the little droid as soon as the engagement is going to happen. After that he must jam one ship in range 0-1 after executing a maneuver. With an awesome dial and Fine-Tuned-Tontrols Plo has lots of maneuverability to jam enemy ships. He can first move and then barrel roll/boost to jam afterwards or jam first and then do the boost/barrel roll AND his normal action as usual.

Foresight is a strong card because the card is denying range bonusses and you can use it as a secondary weapon during the engagement phase.

The strategy is fairly simple: Plo is flying around jamming stuff and the Jedi are killing unmodified ships.

The best advantage of this list is that Plo is so cheap and so annoying, which means that my opponents wanted to see him dead asap. This fact gives Mace and Obi enough time to do their job.

Wouldn't it be beter to use Calibrated Laser Targeting on Plo Koon? You want to save his Force Chages for the Boost and Roll. Burning them on Foresight is a bit... Or maybe go for Sense? Since you want to stick to Aces as well, it could help once you get into Range 1. I just feel like Foresight is burning through his 2 Force Charges too much.

I actually played him with CLT first. It just wasn’t worth the points for me. Then I tried Foresight and was surprised because it changes the way your opponent is flying and sometimes your opponent forgets about it and get punished for it. Because it doesn’t trigger often it doesn’t burn his force very quick and even if...I don’t care. Plo is there to annoy people and he can do so without having 2 force points every round.

I tried to build something around C1-10P earlier too, with 2 CLT Jedi, Ion Broadside, and an ARC. It had its moments (Ionizing an ace, then Jamming away their Focus and blasting them at point-blank is highly satisfying), but the ARC (the only reliable 3-dice attack) was often not in position to take advantage of the freshly-Jammed target. I think your list is great, with 2 highly maneuverable Jedi beatsticks alongside a nimble C1-10P carrier.

Flown against a similar list during a tournament this weekend.

  1. Obi-Wan: Delta 7B, Sense
  2. Plo Koon: Delta 7B, C1-10P
  3. Gold Squadron Trooper
  4. Gold Squadron Trooper

As I was flying Imperial Aces, Plo Koon was uterly awful to avoid. Obi would sense my Vader and Plo would just utterly remove any threat from the big guy. While throwing 4 dice into his side or back. Torrents were perfect for that initial positioning controll and area denial. Later they were just cannon fodder for my Striker and an annoyance to stand between Obi's and Plo's target and his friendlies.

I updated the list. After lots of games with different loadouts I finally found my favourite build.

Plo is now only equipped with C1-10P. Neiter Foresight nor CLT were worth the points in this particular build/idea.

Heightened Perception is perfect for Mace because he has 3 Force charges to work with. I use it to strip a token from an ace, to even inititive kill higher ini Pilots or give Mace a shot before he dies.

Sense on Obi let me run the list without a bid. Also Plo wants to move first against other I5 pilots because he wants to jam stuff.

In most of the games I played Plo was the MVP: Not only because of his Jam shenanigans but also because of his pilot ability to give and take tokens. He's awesome!

Of course he doesn't work against everything (which is actually a good thing). For instance Seperatist swarms are laughing about his tiny jamming astromech.

Overall its a strong and fun list. But it requires lots of practice to remember all the triggers:

- FTC+jam (+regular action)
- take locks with all of your ships in the first round
- Regen after revealing your dial
- Heightened Perception
- Sense
- Transfer a weapon disabled token to Plo to let the other Jedi attack
- Transfer tractor tokens to Plo
- Transfer focus/evade from Plo to a Jedi
- Obi-Wans ability
- ....

I like your list! I’ve been playing around with chopper for a while as well, but a slightly different build. I started using Anakin/Mace/Torrent with Mace carrying Chopper but the torrent just died every game not doing much so I tweaked the list a bit and this is what I’m using now:

Obi-Wan Kenobi (47)
R2 Astromech (6)
Delta-7B (19)

Mace Windu (45)
Sense (5)
R2 Astromech (6)
Delta-7B (18)

Luminara Unduli (43)

Calibrated laser targetting (3)

C1-10P (7)

Total: 199

So far I’m 4-0. First game I Played against CLT jedis and an APT AnaKid, winning on points, then played against Rebel beef (Wedge/Arvel/Cassian/Braylen) and killed all but Cassian, only losing half points on Luminara thanks to regen.

Third game I played against Rac/Soontir. He went after Mace early to get rid of sense, but I caught the baron in a bad spot (jammed and bumped), and got rid of him. Rac without a Reinforce token is a lot less scary. Most of the damage I suffered was done by Vader crew.

Fourth game was against a Scum list with Latts, Sabine and 4-Lom. I was able to flank with Obi and get on their tail, while Luminara stayed close to the enemy Jamming all the time and “nerfing” their attacks.

I killed all enemy ships only losing half points on Luminara. I really enjoy the list, and I think it has legs.

Thanks @RoockieBoy for your report. The list definitely has legs.
I used Luminara as well but I prefer Plo because of his awesome pilot ability, which synergizes so good with 7B Aethersprites. (Especially nowadays where you see Nantex here and there).
Played against Han+Luke yesterday. Both Han and Luke didn’t mind getting jammed that much so I had a hard time beating this list. RAC on the other hand doesn’t want to see C1-10P at all.
When I am playing X Wing, I want my ships to look good on the table like flying 3 painted Nantex with Grievious. 3 painted Aethersprites are looking soooo cool (especially Plos Blade of Dorin) so it’s even more fun to fly.
