Dark Heresy future

By Replicant253, in Dark Heresy

Whilst it was nice to be introduced to the new guy taking over as lead designer for Dark Heresy, I thought we were promised an update last week on what is now going to hapen with Dark Heresy. Dead Stars will mark the end of the current planned books and I am eager to see what they plan to do next. I don't expect dates but something for us to look forward to at least.

I think that what we will see will sound like this:

"We are all excited with the new books that we are working on/planning, we'll tell you about them a day before the release. Dark heresy is a great game."

The more I look at the three games the more I see that this is the current party line.

There is a hell lot to do, but now I'm more than sure that our games will not lack new content for many, many years to come (definitely more than the Dark Age of WFRP), with all these books published already.

This said, I'm eager to see *any* new DH product (save, perhaps, its WFRP3 incarnation), but it will be a difficult task to surpass the success of their previous books. Good luck to their new DH designer!

I'm fairly safe in saying that Ross (and now Mack) have a lot of stuff planned for Dark Heresy yet. Just give Mack some time to settle in lengua.gif I imagine being lead designer takes a lot to get used to.

Very glad to hear this. WH40K RPG is currently the main source of fun for me and my group, and I'm hoping to see many excellent supplements in the future.

... any chances for a big fat book full of Machine Cult goodness? :)

Seconded.

I couldn't possibly comment on that lengua.gif I would like to see one though, the Ad Mech are one of my favourite groups too.

I think they prefer the term "dimensionally augmented" since "fat" is such a flesh-bound term far from the perfection of the Machine.

Frankly speaking, the one thing I would really want, is the compendium + expansion of the careers.

I would also like some straight answers as to upcoming products. Not dates - release dates change, delays happen, so there's no need to nail those down for us - just what they've got planned.

Like Arag, I'm quite tired of the answer to " What's coming up? " being some variation of " We're really excited about what we've got planned but can't tell you! ". Yes, NDA's exist for a reason - we all get that - but there has to be a point when you can reveal even just the title and basic blurb about what the book is without giving out heaps of details.

Some indication that there are products coming, what they might be, and that we're not heading down the road of WFRPG 3rd Ed. That's enough. :)

You can pretty much blame Games Workshop for that.

Also, why do you put "bye" in caps at the end of each post? Just curious, because you do know you don't have to say "bye" to us after you post, right? happy.gif

Somehow I can't believe that GW is harder on licenses than the Man in Flannel AKA George Lucas.

After all forbidding a company to inform it's customers about upcoming products is a very drastic move, and I doubt FFG makes so much money with the W40K license to allow that. Besides FFG doesn't need to publish a lot of info about new products, the name and a one paragraph content explanation would suffice.

The problem here does not lie with GW, they aren't the bogeyman, but with FFG.

Not really, but it does involve an old marsbar wrapper and two chickens. gran_risa.gif

From what I heard, the story starts something like this: A naked lady walks into a bar with a poodle under one arm, and a two foot salami under the other. She leaves the poodle on the table. The bartender says, "I suppose you won't be needing a drink." The lady says "Why do you say that?" and the bartender says...

Uhh... Jesus... fine.

Many many many many years ago, back when the Internet was still a new born, there was a website. This website, in typical early Internet naïveté, was called the Ultimate Games Workshop Website. It had a Guestbook - no, not a forum, a Guestbook - and I started posting there. Because it was a sequential Guestbook and and not a forum with threads, you had to scroll through every post made to find your last ones. So me, in typical early Internet naïveté, STARTED TYPING EVERYTHING IN ALL CAPS SO THAT I COULD EASILY FIND MY MESSAGES.

As my first post there, in non-ALL CAPS, ended with 'bye', when I switched to ALL CAPS, 'bye' became 'BYE'. Eventually the new car smell of the Internet wore off, and we settled into our regular patterns and rhythms. I dropped the ALL CAPS, but didn't drop the BYE.

Do you feel more enlightened now? Good.

FAREWELL

The post about the Ultimate Games Workshop Site and its guestbook reminds me of why I sign all my posts

Alexis

*smiles*

Because back in the day as you said sequential boards meant reading alot and needing something to hone in your eyes on to catch where you were.

The days of Prodigy.... BBs... and two post a day online games....

Alexis

*smiles nostalgically*

...and the future of Dark Heresy has turned into the Past of the Internet. Strange Days <-(more 90's nostalgia?)

Fair enough. It's one of the problems with the internet, it's hard to tell what tone of voice people are saying things lengua.gif

@Cailieg: Same here, probably why my posts all end -Cynr... as if the thread doesn't tell you who the post is from. Old habits from older people I guess.

Oh lord. I still remember those days of 1994, watching my elder brother connect to various BBS... not even the internets... :) * sigh
