none of those are outside the plausibility of Star Wars, because Star Wars is at the Insane Wacky Science level of stuff. And honestly, I'm not reading through a 117 long list. Just pick the ones you think are the most fun, I'd say 3 at most, because I would hate to be your GM if you were determined to do all of those, and just go with it.

I like 6, 11, 17, 46, 67, 72, 88, and 105.

116.) Something that is similar to our Internet on a galactic scale. Holonet is something far more limited, more like galactic cable tv that is mostly just used for military messages. The Star Wars universe has no concept of "looking something up online".

Will whatever you choose actually affect the game? If so, your GM gets final say in whatever it is you want your character to achieve. However since it is science then the answer to any research topic could very well be "it is impossible".

Will your character ever want to go on adventures, get entangled in a web of galactic intrigue or be involved in the universe or just sit in a lab doing experiments? I work with dozens of cutting edge research scientists, they don't strike me as the high adventure type when they are happy to sit in their labs, firing T-Rays at things. So wouldn't your character hook be more about *why* they are out in the universe, getting into trouble rather than what research paper are they hoping to have published in Scientific Corellian in 20 years time?

I am going to say #8 or #9.

I’m actually secretly thrilled that their is no internet in Star Wars. It’s an evil vice that is responsible for my obsessions. It’s ubiquitous and I CANT stay off it. If it didn’t exist, I’d be so much better off. Also the internet and social media warps the view of the world and influences people’s decisions and we only have one planet! Imagine the damage it would do on a GALACTIC scale. Also even if it was positive if you had “internet” access and you lived on Bespin, what is happening on Hosnian Prime really wouldn’t matter in the slightest to you.

Email actually existed in Legends so perhaps the Holonet has that capability as well. It was in one of the Jedi Knight games Kyle Katarn learned of his fathers death through email. Even Darth Vader had an email(?!?) 🙄

In nu-canon, in the The Servants of the Empire series, something like social media was briefly mentioned but tbh it could be like MyLife

Also the planet Kupohan had something called the Infonet which Kupohans used to check the weather but I’m SURE it had other uses but may have been only in the system.

You raise excellent points. I just love science and tech.

Sorry to brake it to you but it's wrong setting. Star Wars is still not science fiction. It's space fantasy

But it's also got giant feats of engineering, literally on planetary scales, that accomplish things that are within the wheelhouse of the list of things the OP mentioned. I mean, just the Death Star alone is nutso engineering, and Starkiller Base is even more insane. Just, actually think about what Starkiller Base is capable of doing, from what we saw in the film. That's some INSANE engineering going on. "Why yes, we totes can suck up all the energy of an entire star, compress it into a smaller area inside a space station we hang out in , and then fire it back out at multiple targets at once. What's that? Do we have a negative reaction to the insane tidal/gravitational forces of relocating that much mass in a solar system, to be inside us? Why no...no we do not. Why? BECAUSE SCIENCE!! MAGICKY SCIENCE!!"

So I don't think any of those are "wrong" for the setting, as Star Wars has already firmly planted it's flag in the Mad Science camp, I just don't know how much fun any of those projects would be to play out at a table. And whether or not they are feasible for a single player to accomplish. Some of them would require access to massive amounts of resources and workforce to accomplish, and that's just not the kind of thing most PC's have lying around in the cargo bay of their tramp freighter. But could those things be happening somewhere in the SW-verse? Sure, why not? They're nowhere near as crazy as what's already canon stuff going on.

They just feel more like the fuel for some fan fiction stories, where the writer can just go crazy with the details and describing stuff, but it doesn't force the GM and the rest of the table to slog through their tech fetish.

If you’re going to be pedantic then at least be correct. Star Wars is Space Opera.

No you have a good point. I just finished Resistance Reborn and if you had never seen Star Wars and just read this book, you would think you were reading something that could take place on Earth (not literally because it happens on different planets) but for cristsake, the datapad in the book projected a hologram, but you had to load the data like an internet browser, plug it in and enter a physical password 🙄

Yet comlinks work across light years.

But I’m shooting with the wrong question. I will change it. Which of these techs could best fit into Star Wars?
