First List: Resistance "Bomber"

By oaicart, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Thanks to this website I could build my first list ever in 2.0, after 4 years of not playing this game :)

I like the MG100 and recently I bought my first new age ship, the Resistance Transport! I love the idea, even if it's not the most competitive list ever.

Vennie (60)
Pattern Analyzer (5)
C-3PO (Resistance) (6)
Rey (14)
Veteran Turret Gunner (8)

Nodin Chavdri (36)
Pattern Analyzer (5)
Ion Cannon (5)
Korr Sella (6)
PZ-4CO (6)
R4 Astromech (2)

Greer Sonnel (36)
Heroic (1)
Advanced Optics (4)

Total: 194

Nodin and Vennie coordinate eachother thanks to the droids, finishing each round heavily stressed but with a ton of tokens. Greer is just super viable at hitting each turn and synergizes with Vennie.

What do you think? Maybe not enough firepower?

I'm going to test the list this week, but I'm a super newbie, so I'll probably mess it hard :P

Welcome to the game! I’d share your concerns about firepower. The struggle with the transport and the bomber is that to make them work well you need to pile on the upgrades which doesn’t leave room for much else. Vennie and Rey are an awesome combo, but even with the defensive help they tend to burn and die quickly once shields are gone ( hull breach + panicked pilot+ weapons failure makes Vennie very sad)

I’d consider dropping the transport entirely in favor of a pod, which leaves room for another escort.

The core of the list looks like this:

Finn and his lady friends

(60) Vennie [MG-100 StarFortress]
(8) Perceptive Copilot
(8) Veteran Turret Gunner
Points: 76

(36) Greer Sonnel [RZ-2 A-wing]
(1) Heroic
(4) Advanced Optics
Points: 41

(29) Finn [Resistance Transport Pod]
(6) C-3PO
(1) Heroic
Points: 36

Total points: 153

With the remaining 47 points you can have either:

Tallisin Lindra with Optics and heroic and then pattern analyzer on the bomber. This can potentially give Vennie another defensive buff with Tallis ability and then being able to stop focus with pattern analyzer and hammer on anything that blunders in front of the bomber.

Or

Zari Bangel with optics and heroic and then Paige Tico as a bomber gunner. Paige allows Vennie to keep her turrets however they best benefit her defensive needs and then still get to shoot twice. Zari is a solid blocker and has strong action economy.

Finn takes over the coordinating role and relies on the calculate token to help keep him alive or provide a sneaky offensive boost when able.

Thank you so much for your detailed response, it helps a lot!

I was thinking about 2 A-Wing, but right now I just have one, and as the Transport is my new toy, I would like to try it! Nodin looks really fun. I've considered Paige instead of Rey for sure. Maybe I make that change.

I really like Finn though, as soon as I get another A, I'll try the double A, Pod and big hitter!

@oaicart Totally understand! Nodin is a blast. One more suggestion to lean fully into Nodin's shenanigans:

Vennie (60)
Fire-Control System (2)
Pattern Analyzer (5)
Perceptive Copilot (8)
Rey (14)
Veteran Turret Gunner (8)

Ship total: 97 Half Points: 49 Threshold: 6

Nodin Chavdri (36)
Pattern Analyzer (5)
Ion Cannon (5)
Korr Sella (6)
Larma D'Acy (4)
R4 Astromech (2)
Shield Upgrade (4)

Ship total: 62 Half Points: 31 Threshold: 5

Greer Sonnel (36)
Heroic (1)
Advanced Optics (4)

Ship total: 41 Half Points: 21 Threshold: 2

Total: 200

Every other turn now Nodin can take three actions (pattern analyzer before a red move (do focus or target lock here), in perform action step because he only has one stress he can coordinate from Darcy. Coordinates Vennie a double focus or a target lock. Because he now only has two stress he can take one more action (either jam, focus or target lock). Plus the shield upgrade it makes him an ion gunship with a bit more suitability. Ends the round triple stressed by Korr Sella plus R4 makes that pretty easy to clear. That allows you to swap in perceptive copilot on the bomber to give vennie full focuses instead of calculates. Greer runs around being a pain in the butt and hopefully keeping the other two alive a bit longer.

This one looks awesome!

It's similar to the one I've posted but it fixes some of the problems, making Vennie more consistent and improving Nodin greatly, thank you so much! I'll try it tomorrow :)

Between Nodin' and Rey, I don't think you need fcs or PA

Instead, adv. Sensors will guarantee your copilot triggers no matter what nonsense Vennie overlaps

Just remember to coordinate BEFORE activating Vennie

I'm currently toying with this list, have yet to put it on the table but I feel it could work even if it's not top tier.

Vennie goes into action with two focus tokens and will also get a TL during engagement. The blues block and provide consistent damage if ignored. They also help Vennies ability to proc.
