Halo Legion???

By Docgimmethenews, in Star Wars: Legion

So I was looking at some OG artwork of Halo the other day....

Does anyone think a Halo Legion would be a freaking fun thing FFG were to do?

Asides from Star Wars, Halo has to be some of my favorite SciFi. I can picture a Halo Legion built exactly like SWL. I also picture FFG making boatloads off of it too.

UNSC:

Commanders: Lord Hood, SajMaj Johnson, Commander/Captain Keys's. Generic: UNSC officer.

Operatives: John 117, Buck, etc...

Corps: UNSC Marines, UNSC Army, Spartan I's ????

SF: Spartan II's, Spartan III's, ODST's.

Support: Machine Gun Team, Mortar Team, Weasels.

Heavy: Scorpion, Warthog

Covenant:

Commanders: Truth, Mercy, Regret. Generic: Elite Major.

Operatives: Arbiter, Gold Elite

Corps: Grunts, Jackles, Elites

SF: Hunters, Jackle strike team, Brutes

Support: Machine Gun Team, Ghosts, Brute Chopper

Heavy: Banshee, Wraith

Of course you can make factions of flood and forerunners.

This would be very fun...

Do it! Make it!

I'm not a Halo fan, but still, do it!

I've thought about doing a G.I. Joe conversion. Turn all my stormtroopers into Vipers.

I'd love a HALO minis game. There are two defunct ones out there.

There's also fan-made free print 'n play HALO Skirmish .

There is a halo miniature game but much larger scale.

Oh I know. But this would be a better game

If you're my age you'd remember the vipers used to be Cobra soldiers. Just terrorists in blue with suspenders. The drivers wore grey and the tank drivers wore riding boots. The scariest bad guy was just an officer by the name of Scarface.

Sorry I can't figure out how to edit the photo to embed it from my phone. But these guys were called vipers too originally

Halo sees like a license that is just waiting for a decent game system to come along and use it to print money. But since it hasn't happened, I'm guessing there isn't a big crossover between fans of the console games and table top gamers.

Heroclix also made had a Halo set.

I played the Halo Fleet Battles game, it was high quality. Great rules and miniatures. The problems with it were in model price (way too high), availability, and game support. Not enough missions, or unit releases. I mean, you guys think Armada is bad, lol. Unfortunately, Halo Ground Command was dead on arrival. Great rules and campaign. But not enough people wanted the smaller mini base. And they released it just as the company was collapsing.

If I recall correctly.

I gave away my October Guard and Kwin the Eskimo action figures...

I've been thinking about reskinning Legion to fit Halo for a while.

With the Halo RTS series it should be pretty easy to mix and match unit upgrades from the game with personnel and heavy upgrades in Legion.

Really the hardest part of skinning Legion to Halo is the expense in printing minis.

Got into both and was impressed with how much HGC felt like a video game. The reaction system was honestly innovative and solved the "my unit got destroyed before it could activate" issue that you can run into with these games. Seriously an underrated game system, just a shame the company was managed so poorly. Still got my HFB stuff and every once and ahwile it's fun to pull them out and do big 'ol fleet stuff.

If anyone wants to see what the actual minis game looked like, they'll be at Adepticon. And the community has been doing some dynamite work 3d printing new units to fill in the gaps.

I loved HFB. Especially how the formations and battle groups worked. And the fire control system. And boarding. lol

Agree on everything except boarding. not because the idea isn't fun, but consulting an unrelated chart to resolve a thing got a bit tedious 😄

But you're absolutely right, the BGs and formation setup was cool and made it actually feel like large scale battles. Frankly, it felt more like what I wanted out of SW Armada than what we actually got. Plus, I don't care who you are, rolling buckets of dice is a party!

Do you still have all of your stuff or did you cash out once Spartan Games folded?

I feel like Halo under the Legion system would be an excellent fit. Though some of the bigger stuff might be too big for it. Scorpions and Wraiths Barely fit in the scale imo. But yea, this idea could work if people spent the time to work on it. I feel like all the mechanics are there with what we have.

There are quite a few properties that the Legion system would work well with.
As noted above, I've made some scribbles about doing G.I. Joe. With the bases we have, Teansformers, Robotech all become prime candidates for conversions. Though G.I. Joe remains the most viable - small to mid size vehicles, numerous characters.

Some lesser known properties like Air Raiders, Starcom and Sectaurs could have potential - though most settings really only have the two faction limit - again, G.I. Joe has a leg up. You could easily have Destro’s Iron Grenadiers as a separate faction. Dreadnoks would be pushing it, but would make a good subfaction.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

When I heard about Halo Ground Command, I was excited. But then when I saw what scale the game was set up for, I remember thinking to myself "why?!" Halo seems IDEAL for a skirmish / small battle miniatures game, where one spartan makes a big difference. Massive company-level battles just isn't the best fit for the IP, IMO.

Legion scale is the perfect scale for Halo.

Say what you will about their accuracy, COBRA cared about their people. Gave EVERYONE a parachute.

Destro, Storm Shadow, Firefly, and Dreadnoks operatives! Let’s do this!

@That Blasted Samophlange

You could probably reskin some current Legion units.

General Veers as Major Bludd

Bossk as Firefly

Royal Guards as Crimson Guards

B1 Battle Droids as Battle Android Troopers (B. A. T.)

Starscream as Cobra Commander

I have a sudden violent urge to rewatch the venture brothers...
