"New Version" of Dark Heresy?

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw 'Dark Heresy 1.5' about a year or two after DW. Basically the same game, but with some changes to bring it in line with RT and DW (such as the psychic system) and some tweaks to some of the careers and rules. Some of the options that were introduced in the IH might be incorporated into the core, such as some of the alternate ranks. There might be some new material, such as new careers. And you never know, they might add vehicle rules to the core, instead of a PDF.

or a finance system equal to the other settings

All of this would be awesome. cool.gif I'd pay another $60.00 for it. I hope it happens. But I am skeptical that it will ... at least until I hear/read something official.

And what pray tell was the point? It seems to me that I'm simply being attacked because my view isn't in accord with the majority on these boards. Am I wrong?

The point is that you sling garbage and call it your opinion and then you complain when someone calls you out on it.

H.B.M.C. did not attack you. He was trying to help you out by teaching you how to explain your view so it might be helpful to the community. If he said you were just a 12 year old whiner, then that would be an attack. Instead he took it upon himself (I suspect several of us had all thought about doing it) to teach you the difference between criticism verses constructive criticism. Until you and a few others learn this, your opinions will not be taken seriously and you won’t be helping the community.

You have problems with the game and you dislike how FFG is running it. Ok we know it. But instead of wasting our time, explain what those problems are and suggest how you would fix them. Read H.B.M.C.'s post again. Learn from it, for it is a very good post.

Sigh...

As I stated before, that wasn't the point of my original post. Seeing as this topic is about whether or not we want a new version of DH, all I was saying was that I didn't because I don't trust FFG to do it right. I have no intention of laying out a point by point critique of a game that has already been published and won't be revised any time soon (and one that I don't even play anymore), and once again that wasn't the point. You then start calling my opinion garbage, and somehow maintain at the same time it isn't an attack. Think about it. Can you honestly tell me you aren't being reactionary, and rather offensive to boot?

Did you not read the post for I never said I didn't attack you.To be honest, if you call that a real attack you must be new to the interwebs. I can honestly tell you that I am not being reactionary and rather offensive. I am merely stating my opinion that half of what you say in the Dark Heresy forums is (to use your terms) crap or inferior. I can honestly say this because you never back your opinions up. You have refused to look at what H.B.M.C. was trying to teach you. You instead whined about being attacked. He did not attack you.

Do you not realize that every time you say that FFG products are crap it is offensive to the people involved in putting out these products? So your saying it is ok that you can call other peoples work crap but no one else can call you opinions garbage? Are you not being the least bit over reactionary? Every time you bad mouth FFG you never say why and you never offer a way to improve things. And you call me offensive. I am only calling you out. Your bad mouthing an entire company of people.

Now you say you do not even play this game anymore, yet you keep on these forums ripping on FFG. Hmm you have some sort of vendetta against FFG. Lemme guess what it is really going on. You were minding your own business and while posting the evils of FFG on these forums. Ross contacted you. He tried to get you to change your mind and join the FFG bandwagon but you held to your guns and said no. Then of all things he let out the mother of all excuses why you should join him. Ross told you that, he is your father. (Insert video of squirrel looking shocked here) Yes after wondering aimlessly, you finally have an adversary that you must defeat. Ross who says he is your father wants you to join the FFG Empire. But you with your high handed morals have started a campaign to discredit FFG where ever you can. This is your rebellion, young Atheosis Skywalker!!!!

And now after a bit of dramatic license, we all know the truth...

To the OP, sorry or hijacking your thread but there are times when something things must be dealt with.

I said that no longer play Rogue Trader. I never said I no longer played Dark Heresy. Perhaps you should read my posts more thoroughly before criticizing me for not reading the posts of others.

The rest of your post is blithering nonsense...

you know, i HAVE noticed a lot of pretty egregious typos in the books. reversed letters, misspells, and other such little niggly things like that. that's really the only thing that reduces the quality of the books IMO...and even though my brain trips over these bumps in text i still enjoy the overall quality of the books themselves - presentation, layout, art, paper-quality, binding, game mechanics/numbers, ideas, themes and ultimately the care and attention to the 40k universe...the DETAILS! mmm!

listen, the books are big! pages and pages of info. i can understand how some little things just get missed. i imagine an editor hunched over a print of one of these heavy-bound grimoires, a pale lamp illuminating the dense pages of lore, his eyes straining and bleary in the dark hours of the night, the caffeine in his veins thinning...he reads "tTrait" just as it should be read, "trait"...and moves on...if only he coulld sleep! just another 100 pages, then bed...just another 100 pages and he can give in to the velvety embrace of the night and dreams... lengua.gif

poor editor!

seriously though, there's a LOT of work put into these publications. some people my not like them, and will shout it to whomever, but this in no way lessens the amount of time (human time - time away from families and friends for YOU the consumer) and effort put into their creation. again, if it was such a poor job, then you'd think that more than just 1 out of 50 people would be upset about the quality. looking around though it seems that the majority here enjoy the work that FFG is doing. everyone is indeed entitled to their opinions, and unlike the dark future of the 41st millenium, are free to state them (and moreover DISAGREE) regardless of proof or evidence or even ideas to back it up...heresy or not.

again, i agree though, a reprint with fixes/errata would get my money. a new version? i don't see a need for it...maybe after DW? some all-encompassing edition that would allow for smoother play between the three distinct "settings" of the 40k RPG line? maybe? but would it necessitate a new version? as opposed to a supplemental book (a sort of "ascension"-like supplement to cover transitions from DH to RT to DW)? still, there isn't too much a need for it at this point.

I think that was one of the things he and others are commenting on. Your incredibly dismissive and snide opinions of other people's opinions and posts comes across as very rude and disruptive.

This is a person who has called my opinions garbage. I don't feel particularly inclined to humor his little rant...

I've been bombarded with all sorts of nonsense due to this, my original post:

"Considering that virtually everything FFG has published since taking over the license has been of clearly inferior quality to that of BI, I really hope there's no truth to this."

I suppose people feel that I should have made it clear that such a statement was merely opinion, but to me that seemed self-evident. Others have gone off on a tangent telling me that I should offer constructive criticism rather than just stating that FFG products are inferior, but that wasn't the point of this thread, so it would be completely off topic. Then it came down to calling my opinions garbage. Seriously read that post and tell me exactly how I deserved to have people come after me like this.

Am I dismissive? Yes, because what has been directed at me, over a rather innocuous statement, has been the gibbering nonsense of fanboys who have chosen to take my dislike of something they hold dear personally. That very much deserves to be dismissed.

Well, proofreading actually is one of the most horrid, brain-wretching tasks I can think of. I wouldn't do it again, not for a king's ransom.

My post wasn't gibbering nonsense yet you dismissed it anyway. A measured level of thought and writing went into putting it together. You just had nothing to write back, and 'It's an opinion' isn't a reason, it's a cop-out - a refuge, if you will - for those of us who cannot construct logical arguments. But you know that already, that's why you've decided to play the victim and pre-empt us by going right for the jugular in all your tired and vitriolic responses.

To be honest I'm surprised at the up-swell of support for my post. I was expecting the usual level of internet hyperbole that we've all grown tired of. In stead the only hyperbole is from you - everyone else here seems to be quite well spoken and capable of putting two thoughts together in a logical order. And you've failed to respond to them - every single one of them.

Sad really...

Just stop responding to the troll. It's made it abundantly clear that it wont respond to reasoned criticism, and will continue to spout garbage.
