More than 1 of each of next wave's new ships?

By Ranker, in Star Wars: Armada

Does anyone see a situation where one would field more than 1 of either of the two new ships?

Sector fleet battles or other non-competetive formats?

Feldherr foam trays...

It means doom for my wallet...

😓

The issue is we don't know point costs. I mean we can ballpark it, but without point costs its hard to say. Based of of assumption I think it is safe to say that one of each will be fine in the vast majority of circumstances.

As a guy with multiple copies of each ship for Armada - I'll skip this Wave! Both ships are too special/ugly..

Already have 2 Onagars, and 3 Starhawks pre-ordered. I prefer to keep my options open for competitive, campaign, sector fleet play, as well as for painting...

Unless you are keeping a tight rein on your gaming budget, all but the Pelta and the Interdictor have been absolutely worth having 2 of. Hard to believe that this wave is going to have the same issues.

As far as ugly goes, the AF MK II is still the ugliest ship in the game, and most of us playing since wave 2 have at least two of those chubby things! ;)

Spoken like someone who hasn’t played dual Interdictor. And dual Pelta took second at Gen Con IIRC.

So like everything except the SSD and the campaigns, there will probably be a reason to buy multiples, depending on personal addiction level. :)

My gut is to say one Onager and 2 Starhawks.

Starhawk just seems like too much to be under 127, so a normal fleet can probably only take 2. For people who play big games all the time, a third to replay Jakku would be reasonable

onager can probably fit 3 in a list, but the question is if it is worth it I don’t know. It seems like a gimmick ship. Once a preview for it comes out, we can judge its merits and make a better call

I'm with @cynanbloodbane on this one. definitely getting at least 2 of each. I'll wait to see what the stats are for the rest but maybe more of the starhook. I'm excited for that 1200 point sector fleet game where 3 starhooks take down an executor II.

One of each preordered. I don't want to commit to more till I know what the capabilities of the ships will be. Onager especially feels like its going to be a specialist ship that is probably going to need flanking escorts. The Star Hawk I think its really going to depend on her speed (with her shields have a feeling she is going to be slow) . If she's 3 could see playing 2, speed 2 could see using one to anchor a formation, but beyond that.

Two Starhawks. I don't own any Imperial ships, so I'll pass on the Onager and save my money for Confederacy ships. :)

I didn't say I only had 1 of each! ;)

No, I absolutely have at least 2 of everything. But they are the only ones that it is actually hard to fit 2 of in a competitive list. Most people only play competitive format, if not actual competitions, so I don't think it is a stretch to say. Double Interdictor or Pelta may float your boat, but it is only noteworthy when it wins, because so few people are able to make it work.

Against the SSD, absolutely!

One of each for me, personally. I'm a thematic player at heart, and being that both of these ships are rare and specialized in-universe (by all accounts, anyway), fielding one will satisfy my interest in the game. Should I ever decide to recreate the Battle of Jakku, well, we'll just pretend that the other two Star Hawks are fighting just off-mat. ;)

Wait most people only have one SSD?

Only one interdictor????....

I have 3. Garentied speed zero start for all enemy ships was worth it for the $10 I spent on my 3rd one. Haha

Only 1 RitR? How will you put 4 neb-bs on the table all with auxiliary shield teams????

For me...2 donkeys and 1 bird.

Having multiple of everything except the SSD and Quasar (I'll probably get a second Quasar soon for Painting reasons) I am sure I will get 2 of each eventually. I have pre-ordered one of each to support my FLGS, the other two I will be looking for a deal.

I agree with others it is hard to tell without knowing point costs. I feel like getting 2 Starhawks in a list will be tight and 2 Onagers could potentially be a bit clunky depending on mechanics.

My main reason for getting 2 of each will be for painting reasons, I like to keep at least one copy of each ship unmodified.

I thought I was the only one.
