Coordinated Attack (Hux+Tavson/3xSF)

By emeraldbeacon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Thinking about an upcoming tourney, going with something like this:

  • Lieutenant Tavson (83)
    • General Hux
    • Jamming Beam
    • Adv. Sensors
    • Hull Upgrade
  • Omega Squadron Expert (39)
    • Crack Shot
    • Adv. Optics
  • Omega Squadron Expert (39)
    • Crack Shot
    • Adv. Optics
  • Omega Squadron Expert (39)
    • Crack Shot
    • Adv. Optics
  • Total: 200

The concept: Hux triggers with Advanced Sensors, and forces an action to the three SFs in his squad, resulting in everyone being stressed. Then Tavson moves, clearing stress in case he's granted an extra action. When each of the Omega Squads moves, they clear stress with a blue maneuver, then take a second action.

Altogether, the squad is 31 health, which is a lot to chew through. The combination of Hux and Advanced Sensors gives you lots of action economy, and Tavson is a pain to deal with in any scenario - even more so that he's got an extra hull.

So, what are your thoughts?

  1. What would you change (e.g. drop hull upgrade, to swap out the crack shots for fanatical)?
  2. What should I be doing to make best use of it on the table (pregame obstacle selection, obstacle placement, etc)?
  3. How would you approach this team to defeat it (spread out and flank, joust, etc)?

Hux lists are fun and cool, but don't strike me as particularly great. Trip SF seems like the right way to go. My inclination is for Zetas with either Gunner or Passive/Conc, but that means a generic Upsilon. There is more hitting power than with Optics, but Tavson's a lot scarier than a generic SKBP. But Optics can easily take Evades and Barrel Rolls, so position and tankiness seems better in this version.

I wouldn't change a thing if sticking with Optics Omegas . I think Crack Shot is better than Fanatical on generic SFs, Tavson is probably built right (but Biohex might be worth considering over Hull... SFs can creep a bit out of range sometimes.

I just played against similar. It went the concussion missile with advanced optics on zetas with Stridan-Hux for passing out the locks for lots of mods missiles later. Had trouble when the shuttle bumped and there were no locks. Also I was playing all I3 Republic list with three ARCs.

The list has no trouble with clearing stress from Hux. Lots of blue on those dials. Shuttle hits hard but the SFs with just their primary not so much.
