Hi guys and gals .

Have played some TTS, but thought I would try vassal, have been watching Loi Pocknell on his streams, but was wondering how easy is it to get into, and find opponents, that do not mind you being new?

I know the game, just not so much on vassal.

It's polite to let your opponent know that you're new, especially if you're still not used to the interface, but most people will be chill about it.

Finding games rarely takes more than a few minutes, and less at peak times.

As for how easy it is to get into, it widely varies. I've always run it on Windows (Win10 now, of course), and never had any issues, but I've known some people that have run into weird issues with write permissions and other things. And I have no idea how it is to install on Mac, although it should be almost entirely OS agnostic.

Usually when I see these posts I offer to schedule a first-game/tutorial, but the truth is that @Mu0n729 and the other folks that help have made so many incredible advances, so quickly, that I've been left behind with my weak-sauce circa-2017 VASSAL knowledge.

But @thespaceinvader invader is right ... let people know you're new, and if they possibly can, they'll teach as you go.

Watch a few games as well, that helps. There are in vassal links to shortcuts. hit me up if you see me on and I'll walk you through. I get about half my games in on vassal. Makes buying all the stuff worth it.

I cannot seem to get it to update, even tho Ihave watched the you tube video, 😞
