Stupid Idea - Reaper Swarm

By Magnus Grendel, in X-Wing Squad Lists

A random thought Experiment on fielding a quartet of reapers. The idea is that each ship is in some way a problem by either messing up the enemy or boosting the squad as a whole:

  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Admiral Sloane (9)
  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Death Troopers (6)
    • ISB Slicer (3)
  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Seventh Sister (9)
  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Targeting Computer (3)
    • Grand Moff Tarkin (6)

I've thought about the concept before. I kind of feel like I want to try to work Palp in, since he's flexible force. Tarkin is cool, but I'm nervous about two turns of set-up. I'm probably just needlessly paranoid, though.

Also, isn't Death Troopers double-crew? ISB Slicer would need to go onto some other reaper. Slicers and Kallus could also be a decent pair.

Seems a bit like quad B-Wings that can actually move and are controlling you like crazy, too.

Seems like it has a lot of potential for someone who actually owns 4 and is willing to put a few reps in...

Indeed. It's a slight issue of points, but you're quite correct on death troopers - so you'd have some points spare there.

Sloane and target locks both give non-stacking rerolls, so Sloane and Tarkin might be overkill compared to Sloane and Palpatine, whose abilities can stack.

  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Emperor Palpatine (11)
  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Admiral Sloane (9)
  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Death Troopers (6)
  • Scarif Base Pilot (41)
    • Seventh Sister (9)

The Reaper turns like a cow, to be fair, whilst the B-wing is slow but an amazing knife fighter. I think it might well be worth a try, though.

Yeah, I've done this also and usually work Palp in there for "flexible force" so any slooping Reaper has a mod. I also like Vizier in there so he can white coordinate a reaper as well. Vizier can coordinate jams to reapers that are range 1 of a ship.

I've done Echo Triple Reapers in early 2.0 days and it was decently effective. I flew Sloane on Echo, but Reapers dont die fast enough to take advantage. 7th Sister may be better

Vizier with ISB slicers (since they have a range 2 effect) would be nice - both to co-ordinate-jam and to let someone focus on a segnor's loop (possibly even him, if the target co-ordinates him back!)

That leaves enough points that you can have either Death Troopers or Seventh Sister in the fourth reaper. Obviously Seventh Sister is better solo (because force charge) but I suspect Death Troopers pairs well with Admiral Sloane. I'm not sure which is better with the rest of the squad in tow.

Seems like a konga line could work well...

1. DTs

2. 7 sis.

3. Sloane

4. Palp

Just keep em tight and roll past and around with aileron turns and come back around.

Edit:

It's silly how much more flexible quad Vipers are compared to Quad B's in a knife fight.

I literally don't think there's a comparison unless you can swing this with both named B's .....

Quad B

(51) Braylen Stramm [A/SF-01 B-wing]
Points: 51

(48) Ten Numb [A/SF-01 B-wing]
(1) Crack Shot
Points: 49

(43) Blade Squadron Veteran [A/SF-01 B-wing]
(6) Collision Detector
(1) Crack Shot
Points: 50

(6) Collision Detector

Points: 50

Total points: 200

No bid, but at least two of your Bs are 4s instead of 3s and can actually do stuff.
