Fun Thread: No Upgrades, Squads

By Cgriffith, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Post lists you either have played or think may be table worthy without upgrades. I'll get it started with this.

TIE Advanced x1 - •Darth Vader - 67 •Darth Vader - Black Leader (67)

TIE/D Defender - •Rexler Brath - 81 •Rexler Brath - Onyx Leader (81)

TIE Advanced v1 - •Grand Inquisitor - 52 •Grand Inquisitor - Master of the Inquisitorious (52)

Total: 200/200

It was said that 2.0 we were supposed to not many upgrades to be competitive on the table. So let's see'em

Wedge,Luke,Braylen,AP-5

I went 5-0 in hyperspace quals with wedge, luke, braylen, jake. So im sure this is probably close to just as good.

Kylo,Tavson,SKB

Yeah, its good :)

Soontir, Rexlar, Mauler, Scourge

I6 and three i5s.

Wedge Luke Thane Ap-5 and a bid to boot.

Cpt. Sear, Wat Tambor, 3x Feeyhan Ottraw Autoppilots.

Fenn and 3 Recruits. As nature intended.

  1. Luke Skywalker
  2. Thane Kyrell
  3. Garven Dreis
  4. "Dutch" Vander

Luke and Thane can fly separetely, but all ships benefit from sticking together. The only problem I have with this list, is that Thane shoots before Garven and "Dutch" so he might not fully exploit his pilot ability in the first engagement.

Another Rebel Beef:

  1. Braylen Stramm
  2. Ten Numb
  3. Cassian Andor
  4. Magva Yarro

Cassian enables the B-Wings to stock on Stress every turn. Magva saves you from the Target Lock abuse. Lots of HP to chew through and a lot of fire power.

Six Zeta Survivor TIE/sf is what I've flown. Advanced Optics is nice, but this is a whole extra ship for that much more blocking and suchlike. It'd be improved with Backdraft ( *mumbled catawumpus* and improved still with Crack Shot).

I'm tempted by 2x Onyx Defenders and Captain Kagi ( *intensifying catawumpus* with two Crack Shots), for some Init 4 chop-and-change with token stacks and able to Hoover up any Locks.

Something a friend of mine flew at a local kit tournament a few weeks ago also works: 3x Cartel Marauder Kihraxzes, 2x Cartel Executioner Kimogilas.

Another friend flew this about two months ago: Duchess, Wampa, 2 Academy Pilots, 2 Scarif Base Pilot Reapers. There's something kinda cool about using a generic Reaper as a blunt instrument heavy fighter. Approximately the same statline as a B-Wing for the same cost. ( *obstinate catawumpus* 3x generic Reapers and a fairly standard Afterburners/[FCS or PS] Vader might be solid).
